Devin from Chud.com thought it was pretty good.

If there's one movie this summer that I really want to be good, it's Lady in the Water. I love M. Night to death, I couldn't stand it if this was another The Village. I hope he comes up with the goods.

Hopefully, the fact that it'll be one of the (if not THE) most consensual Shyamalan movie(s) means that it'll be just as good as The Village...

Syamalan is batting 500 now with me. I loved loved loved Sixthe Sense and Unrbreakable, but disliked Signs and hated The Village. This film determines at this point his likability factor. I still think it will tank.

Less than a 60 mill total.

with warner bros as the studio for this movie YES it will tank.

First V for Vendetta dissapoints
the Posidon bombs
Superman returns dissapoints NO WAY IT WILL MAKE BACK ITS $260 million production budget and who knows $100+ million in marketing and distribution and the $40+ million spent before even SR was made
Lady in the water will tank too

All these movies will have one thing in common WB and their LAZY, UNDERWHELMING marketing department.

I just think the story is too eccentric for a main stream audience.

Those pictures do nothing to make me want to see the film.

Second review is out from comingsoon.net this time.

http://comingsoon.net/news/reviewsnews.php?id=15352
8/10

Quote:
This is not M. Night Shyamalan's most immediate work of fiction, and I honestly can say that I have no idea whether fans of his earlier work will embrace this or be too confused by the departure. Those who truly want to believe that fantasy and magic exist in our world are given a wonderful story that is far more satisfying in terms of characters and original ideas than anything Shyamalan's done in the past.

Also mentions how it's his funniest AND scariest film to date.

Whats the budget on the film?

I dont know if M Night will repeat the same pattern with having a huge hit followed by a mild disappointment back to a huge hit to a disappointment back to a hit

Anyhow the commercials are playing very well and its tracking on the net seems to be pretty good so far

33.0 million/105 million
Hopefully if Lady in the Water is a success, it will lead to the more non traditional role of using more non handsome men in leading roles that isnt a comedy
