People were REALLY disappointed with the ending at my theater. It was completely sold out, which is VERY good for my area. It will have an absolutely huge weekend, but the legs will be terrible I think. This is not a movie you see more than once!!!

Ok, this is not a movie that the general mainstream public will see more than once. But I could be wrong of course!

1039 WRITTEN reviews for Cloverfield on Yahoo. 839 User ratings. The 839 is quite off, and keeps fluctuating 10, to 839. With 1039 written reviews, I'm thinking there are 3000 + user reviews...

Rambo - 219 (70), B+
Meet the Spartans - 64 (19), B-
Untraceable - 21 (12), B+
How She Move - 26 (16), C-

Epic Movie had a 224 ratio, so I don't think Meet the Spartans will be too low; will go with 130. About 90 for Rambo, and 70 for Untraceable. Feel the Noise had over a 200 ratio, and the grade for How She Move is pretty awful too unlike the reviews, so could be a lot of fakes; will say 150.

I wouldnt be surprised if Rambo pulled near a 10 million opening day. It did decent when I saw it early during the day.

Yeah, it's the one that looks most certain to have done well so far.

WTF is wrong with people when they post fake grades for How She Moves yet at the same time Meet The Spartans is hardly getting any. The net brings out the bigotry in people

So look like $9m for Rambo, $4-5m for Meet the Spartans, $2.5-3m for Untraceable, and $1-1.5m for How She Move.

Rambo is now at 603. Excellent, definitely should be in the 9-11 mark.

Rambo - 734 (187), +238 (+47), B+
Meet the Spartans - 584 (50), +229 (+15), C
Untraceable - 163 (23), +56 (+7), C+
How She Move - 100 (21), +21 (+3), C-

Yep, $10m looks good for Rambo. Meet the Spartans also has picked up the pace, but it's possible its ratio could be closer to what Epic Movie had. Untraceable is heading to $3m. How She Move is tanking; can't see it getting to $2m, if not $1.5m.

WOW rambo is doing pretty damn good. I am impressed. Stallone is doing a fine job when it comes to opening weekend of his trademark franchises.

This is officially the best january OW wise.

It's the best January pretty much ever. Holdovers from December have been stronger than usual and openings have been MUCH bigger than any January.

You and I and a few others called it months ago. A brilliant January. The Bucket List, Cloverfield, 27 Dresses and now Rambo all doing big numbers + decent returns from First Sunday, Spartans and Mad Money and offcourse the holdovers makes it a big month by even the standard of some other months of the year.

The holdovers are interesing, they could make the following in 08

Juno - $120m+
National Treasure - $85m+
Alvin + Chips - $75m+
Legend - $60m+
Atonement - $50m+
TWBB - $50m+
CWW - $35m+
Sweeney - $30m+
No Cuntry - $30m+

All thanks to some brilliant release scheduling and marketing. Juno had a great expansion strategy, which lead to its great run in January.

Bucket List, Cloverfield, First Sunday, and 27 Dresses were films released at the right time and had effective marketing. None of the films tried to market themselves as anything outside of what they were selling. Bucket List was marketed itself towards old people, and it brought them in. Cloverfield was going for the fanboys, and it got them. 27 Dresses went for the females and it got them. First Sunday went for the urban crowd and it got them (at least for OW).

Major tentpoles need to appeal to broad demographs to be sucuessful. But non-tentpoles need only to appeal to one demograph to be a hit. Studios sometimes forget that I feel and try too hard on a product that can really only appeal to one demograph. One demograph is all you need to get a solid hit.

In other news, what are some projections for Rambo? Judging from the crowds at my theater, I'm thinking a 7m-8m OD.

It now has 915 reviews, with a few more updates left, if Xiayun's ratio is correct it would be over 10 million and perhaps 10-12 million OD

Based on Animosity Reigns' theater report, Rambo doesn't seem to be doing all that well. Untraceable beat it.

I only saw one or two sellouts for Rambo, both in NYC. I can't imagine a $10M opening day, really. I'd say $6-7M is probably more likely.

Yeah $6-7m is more likely. Which would still be great.

Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour - 103 (21) +0 (+0) C+
The Eye - 66 (17) +0 (+0) B-
Over Her Dead Body - 35 (7) +0 (+0) C+
Strange Wilderness - 45 (11) +0 (+0) C+

Considering Hannah Montana isn't even listed among the new releases on the main Yahoo! Movies page (It's listed as "In select theaters"), that's pretty good so far.

Well, to be fair, it is only opening in 685 theatres. A lot of smaller areas (like mine) definitely aren't getting it.
