I think its silly that films like The Informant and Whiteout (especially the former) get dumped in September hoping to somehow get some awards buzz aswell. They'll just get buried. Summer isnt too crowded so atleast the Informant deserves a late July/ early August slot (like Bourne)

Whiteout isn't hoping for awards buzz, I'll guarantee you that. It's a horror film surely looking to replicate the success of Beckinsale's Underworld films.

Yeah i realised afterwards. September or October are probably good for it. But Informant should move.

The Smurf's Movie is set for December 17, 2010!!!

In 2009, we have Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 coming out, but the novelty factor isn't there.

But the Smurfs movie will be quite novel and nostalgic. To its advantage, I believe that in the 1980's the Smurfs were much bigger than Alvin and the Chipmunks was in the 1980's, as big as both shows became. So, it could have even more of a nostalgic factor. I see The Smurfs doing about as much as Alvin and the Chipmunks did in 2007 adjusted for inflation, if not exceeding it. That would be about $240 m or so.

Yes thats a great release date. Smurfs and Alvin were two of my three (the other being Astroboy) favourite cartoons as a kid in the 80s. This is a great release date for Smurfs.

As for Astroboy - hope they move it from October to either November or August.

No Hobbit unfortunately comes out a year later. December 2011 and 2012 for the Hobbit/Pre-LOTR films.

Did anyone notice that the long delayed "Ghost of Girlfriends Past" has been scheduled for May 1 against Wolverine. Thought Feb would be much better for it.

Also June seems to be absolutely empty other than Fast and Furious and Transformers.

I would really like to know what's going on with it. I adored the book and was highly looking forward to the movie. There's not even a trailer or anything yet, which is annoying.

The Time Traveller's Wife should definitely go for a June release, back up being August. Otherwise they may as well hold it for Nov/December.

Per BOM, The Soloist has been bumped again, this time from March 13 to April 24.

it hasn't been long delayed, it finished wrapping up this year. WB didn't want this to clash with He's Just Not That into You which has been delayed more anyway. and there are other romcoms out for Valentine's Day that I'm sure it was going to clash with. And the first weekend of May did very well for Maid of Honor.

Does Valkyrie come out Christmas Day or December 26th? Most websites say the latter, but I just saw a TV spot which said the 25th. So...

Yeah, I saw the same TV spot saying December 25. Hopefully, that is the day because then I can see it with the other movies I'll see that day

I always thought releasing it on the 26th was a bit odd/pointless.
