Plot Summary: An action-adventure in which a group of air crash survivors - cast-offs from society who will never be missed - are stranded in the Mongolian desert with no hope of rescue. I think this movie looks really good. It has a good cast and a great release date, and positive reactions to the trailer. It opens on the same day as Meet The Fockers, so it can't have a huge opening, though I doubt it would have had one anyways. I see Master & Commander numbers for this one, but a smaller total.
Opening- $23.8 million
Total- $83.3 million

Desert movie in the winter....yes! It will do OK, but I don't think it will do phenomenal. Winter is waaay too crowded.

To me it looks really good. Giovanni Ribisi's character looks really interesting, thing is, I don't think it will grab that many people...
I'm going to go with 17.8/52

I personally think it looks kind of silly. I doubt I'll go to see it, unless the reviews are really good.

I'm interested in it, but I don't think as many other people will be.
It'll do better if they can make everyone forget that Quaid was in the disaster that was TDAT (pun intended)

Saw the trailer again tonight. I've changed my views slightly, as it looked like it might be good.
I'll up my prediction to: $19 million opening, $75 million total.

A good idea for a movie a decent looking trailer but coming out the wrong time of the year look for Timeline or Paycheck type numbers, the holidays are for family and kids and Oscar movies, not much time for action...

This film is being released on what is by far the best weekend of the year for legs. The multiplier will be at least 4, and will probably be abover 5. However, I don't think this film has much potential.
Open: 6m
Total: 34m
Multiplier: 5.67
Second week: +12% (It's almost certain to increase)

55m total.
It looks not too bad, but who wants to sit and watch a movie about people trying to rebuild a plane for 2 hours, unless I'm missing something more dramatic about it than that.

This film will perform moderately, I think. I'd give it an $11M opening, with about a $45-50M total. It seems like it would behave like After the Sunset, but with better legs due to opening near Christmas.
