Re: Predict The CinemaScore's For This Weekend's Openers Not teens. But movies aren't all made for teens, you know. The Great Escape wasn't made for teens in the 60s. In fact, moviegoing back then was dominated by older generations.
But the way that the movie was made, it can still grip people nowadays, is what I meant, whereas 2001 will never grip anyone ever again. Audiences today will never even give it a chance - only when the odd Internet moron wants to prove that he's knowledgeable on film.

As for the other part of your comment, true, though I don't entirely blame myself for equating "mainstream audience" with "teenage" because so many Hollywood films are pitched at the teenage crowd in the 21st century; not in the B-beach-party-movie type way of yesteryear, but as the cornerstone of the industry.

It just feels experimental. In fact, I'm surprised it got a theatrical release at all. Nowadays, that would have been given a platform release and after a few weeks of zero attendees, it would have been dumped and never released on DVD or shown on TV. Its going to be well received among the audience that see it. I am very confident in my B+ score, it might get a higher grading.
