 UT Austin Debate
Texas debate on right now. (It's actually literally happening right across the street from me right now on the UT campus, but they didn't open it to the public. ) Discuss!

I'm not for Hillary of at all, but I can't stand watching the train wreck of her trying to attack Barack on the speech thing and the supporter who couldn't name a policy. When you're getting booed, you have to stop.

Of course Obama would just counter with what he has done and Hillary, once again, gets the "negative" label.

I'm also not sure that Hillary knew that the guy who couldn't answer the question about Obama's record (Kirk Watson) represents Austin.

It's over and Hillary knows it. That last answer and speech from her was as good as a concession/ defeat statement.

Change you can xerox? lol
Aside from that moment, though, I thought Hillary did pretty well. She always has a very clear and concise way of expressing herself during debates. What sucks for her though, is that the xerox line is probably the one moment in that debate that people are going to talk about.

Yes, and it was the best, most uplifting, Obama-like thing she had said all night! If she spoke like that all the time, she would be giving Obama more of a challenge. I guess words do matter!

That was a great ending speech by Hillary. It was almost like she copied one of Obama's speeches.

 Re: UT Austin Debate
There do seem to be some indications that she will bow out gracefully if she doesn't win Texas and Ohio. Color me pleasantly surprised.

I actually found it admirable how she refrained from making certain attacks when opportunity allowed -- I could almost sense her holding back in fear of feeding punch lines to McCain. Very magnanimous; color me surprised as well.

As if she wasn't already going to get her ass kicked in Austin, I'm guessing that will only make it even more of a landslide for Barack. And if more college kids around the country saw this video, they'd vote even more against Hillary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBJl4lsoJZs

I mean, anytime you want to question his lack of experience, or the number of times he's pressed the wrong button, or failed to vote yes or no, or shady business dealings, or lying about using drugs and his childhood to sale more books, or being creative with his speeches, he totally avoids it. He's apparently unlike every politican before him, great and shite, whom have had to answer for their questionable behaviour. Instead, Obama will say something like "I'm not here for the same old patty cake games, I'm here to take about the issues." What's great is that he'll then follow that up WITHOUT exactly talking about the issues. He'll give some inspirational speech and the masses fawn. Or he'll sneeze and they go "ahhhhhhhhhhh." It really is a cult of personality. It's fun to look at. What's funny is when he actually does talk about the issues, people like you never give him any credit for it.

 Re: UT Austin Debate
Loyal, I am an Obama supporter. I'm also a Clinton supporter. I just like Obama better.
Do you realize how insulting it is to say that those of us who support Obama are apparently so dim and easily mainuplated that we can't see that he, like every other human on earth, does have some flaws? We're not all duped, you know. Some of us have evaulated both candidates and have come to the conclusion that we like one more than the other.
You list some minor concerns with Obama. I could counter with some major ones about Clinton. No one is perfect. Your concerns really seem to me to be stretching. I mean, if those little things you mentioned are all the bad things you can say about Obama, that's pretty good, really.

Very magnanimous; color me surprised as well. Not so fast just yet: Quote: That’s not the case at all. I signed an agreement not to campaign in Michigan and Florida. Now, the DNC made the determination that they would not seat the delegates, but I was not party to that. I think it’s important for the DNC to ask itself, Is this really in the best interest of our eventual nominee? We do not want to be disenfranchising Michigan and Florida. We have to try to carry both of those states. I’d love to carry Texas, but it’s usually not in the electoral calculation for the Democratic nominee. Florida and Michigan are. Therefore, the people of those two states disregarded adamantly the DNC’s decision that they would not seat the delegates. They came out and voted. If they had been influenced by the DNC, despite the fact that there was very little campaigning, if any, they would have stayed home. But they wanted their voices heard. More than 2 million people came out. I mean, it was record turnout for a primary. Florida, in particular, is sensitive to being disenfranchised because of what happened to them in the last elections. I have said that I would ask my delegates to vote to seat.
So looks like Clinton is laying the groundwork for the Texas-doesn't-count spin and will continue as long as she wins Ohio.

loyalfromlondon wrote: Just as loudly as Obama supporters talk crap about Hillary, I do the same about Obama. Regardless, I'm happy with either in the White House... just moreso Hillary. So you're happy with the guy in the WH who dodges questions "anytime you want to question his lack of experience, or the number of times he's pressed the wrong button, or failed to vote yes or no, or shady business dealings, or lying about using drugs and his childhood to sale more books, or being creative with his speeches." You're happy about the lying, shady, inexperienced plagiarist winning the presidency? I ask this because I'm an Obama supporter who has been critical of Hillary. But if she gets the nomination, I can't just suddenly pretend like the horrible things I've said never happened. I'm not an etch-a-sketch. I won't vote for her for the reasons I've stated previously even if she gets the nomination. I just don't get people who can utterly trash someone with mostly baseless mud-slinging, and then say they'd be happy either way. Are you really just trashing him because you like Hillary SLIGHTLY better?
