My thoughts
I think that this movie will revive the series. Its back at November and the sixth book will be released like 4 months before, so the hype will be pretty big. Its second weekend will be great since its Thanksgiving, but it should fall like 65%+ on its third. I think that this movie will open to over 95m and drop to 60m second weekend. I think that this will make more than the last two, but less or a little over the first. I could be just saying this because I'm a huge fan, but thats what I think anyways.

I think it's going to do better than the other 3 because it has a lot great things about it, including dragons.
I'll try to get some more pics for you Sako.

The first one really lost casual moviegoers like me. That was the misstep they won't recover from in terms of growing the fanbase beyond the fans of the books, which by the way is bigger than any book/movie series and yes much bigger than LOTR. I watch about 65 to 70 movies a year in the theaters and I did not even see HP2 and HP3 either in the theater or DVD.
LOTR was able to tap into a good chunk of the casual movie audiences also. If HP had done that, the movies would have been even bigger than than they are now.
Due to the above, I don't see the next one grossing more than HP3.
87/229

That's Rita!? Isn't she suppose to have red hair? :???:
Anyways... I'm really afraid they might screw this up as this is my favorite book and it's hard to get all the good stuff into 1 film... I'd say this will do Chamber of Secrets #'s, but it could do a little less than PoA...

Thanks neo for those pics.
I think that Rita Skeeter is great, just like you would expect after reading about her. Harry hair is kindof out of control, but it looks ok.

You got it right. I am a big Harry Potter fan (of the books, not the movies) and I didn't love any of the three movies so far. I saw all of them in theatres. I thought the first was pretty bad, I disliked it big time and that screwed up the whole franchise. The first movie seemed so childish and stupid at times that it turned off people from the series.
I thought the second movie was just okay, but in itself a major improvement over the first. As for the third, I thought it was fairly good actually and better than the previous two, but still by far not great. However, the trend so far is that each new movie is better, so I have my hopes up for the new one.
I think it'll open at least as big as the second and will probably have better legs since it won't have to deal with LOTR.
I predict:
Opening weekend - $91 million
Total gross - $271 million

Daniel Radcliffe is only 1 year older than what harry is supposed to be, Emma is the same age as hermione, and Ron is 2 years older than Ron.

Oh right, but, in terms of look, Daniel looks about 18. Harry Potter is supposed to look like a child, not a teenager. I think theyre shit films, not just for this reason.

Thats a ridiculous opening, infact, ridiculous prediction altogether. And as for hans' prediction, well im gobsmakced, thought he might have had a bit more common sense, $324 Million, realistically hans, what did HP3 get? ](*,)

For the past two sequels, people have overpredicted greatly, and each time people say "Oh boy, it's going to be the best of the franchise, 95/370!!!!!1111" Come on, you have to know by now it's not going to get much better, especially halfway between the first and last film, should they go right to seven like the books.
78.5/241.2 (most likely will still be on par with Prisoner of Azkaban, for final gross, but it won't outgross it).

Now, i'm very horrible with Box oFfice stats, but let me attempt to show something presentable...
HP1 Opening Week 90.3 Million Total 317.5 Million # of theatres 3672
HP2 Opening Week 88.3 Million Total 261.9 Million # of theatres 3682
HP3 Opening Week 93.7 Million Total 249.5 Million # of theatres 3855
Now let's see. Despite ppl thinking that the series is in decline (due tot eh total box office revenue) Harr Potter's opening weeks don't follow the same pattern. Let's say that HP4 manages to 4000 theatres in November, which i think is likely. There's a high probability that it will beat teh opening week of 93.7 Million set by HP3. Let's say it get $95 Million. You factor in the multiplier for that time, add a little extra because of christmas, and i am positive that it will at the very least beat HP3, most likely HP2.
I think it's possible that it might beat HP1, not probably but possible.
