How is it suddenly going to get a lower ratio than the previous 2?!
Doesn't make sense.

i hope we don't react like spiderman 3.
Oh 59 million opening, yeah whatever.
Anything over 45 million would be impressive.
Beating 50 million would easily make it one of the most impressive openings ever.

Doesn't make sense. Hasn't pretty much every sequal this year had a lowe ratio than their predessesors? This one won't be any different.

Haven't Yahoo ratios gone down drastically in the last few years?

All the Pixar films have mantained a steady ratio. I don't see why HP would suddenly dip to like 130-140 or something.
It will stay around 152-155.

I'm probably just recalling times when films had ratios in the 300-400 range.

Just in the last year. I only remember it getting really bad with POTC2. But yeah, the system was much clearer when the last two came out, though there haven't many problems tonight, yet.

It will stay around 152-155. Spider-Man 3 had a 115 ratio versus the 126 ratio of Spider-Man 2. This will be under 150.

Thank you for that one example. That must be true for all movies now!
Except... I gave you 2 examples with Cars, a 59 ratio, and Incredibles a 70 ratio. Ratatouille landed right in between them. I win.

Shrek 2: 97.99, Shrek 3: 53.39
I win, the ratio will be lower than 150, I'm thinking around 130.

You're 130 ratio would CONVENIENTLY put it close to you HP fans $60 mil OD.

I'm a HP fan, and I'm not thinking 60M OD.

You are making absolutely no sense.
IF it gets to my predicted 7000 ratings. It MAY have a lower ratio than the previous 2, but not 115 low. 130 at the LOWEST. But it's also darker than the previous 2, which may increase it's ratio. I'm think more around 145. That would be $48 mil OD, minus the $12 mil midnights, and that's a mere $36 mil.
It should be around $65-70 mil before Friday. And then about a $75 mil weekend. Just short of $150 mil 5 day.

Help me out, math guy. How much higher than Transformers' opening day would this be?

About $12 mil higher, I count it's 8pm showing as midnight, because it's all relative.
Ok. So it opens higher. What's your point?
It's BARELY going to have a higher weekend, and WILL finish below Transformers.

Anyways, you just can seen to grasp that ratio's have, for the most part, taken a nose dive in the past two years. There's no reason to expect that Potter's ratio will be that high, except blindly believing that it'll not beat TFs OD by 50+%.

What's your point? All big movies would look less impressive if you take away their midnights.
Sith has a 35 million opening day minus midnights. That's less, and went on to gross well over 300 million. Hmmmmmmm

I remember when Pirates 3 opened and excel said it would make $43m and Chip said, "No way! That's impossible. Why would it have a higher ratio than Pirates 2?" and it ended up with a 200 ratio like excel predicted.
