Okay, then Winslet needs to play a REAL LIFE massive burn victim in a biopic. Then she's got the win, hands down.
Peace,
Mike.

Wouldn't it be funny if Mirren lost the Oscar? Award followers would be sitting on their sofas, complacent and bored, then jump fifty feet in the air when PSH says "Judi..."

I guess Whitaker's winning the Oscar then, making O'Toole the biggest Oscar "loser" in history.

Actress and Actor are two of the most locked categories ever. I mean, Mirren always has been, but even Whitaker, where there was some doubt, is still winning everything. It's too late.
Both of the categories will be a huge bore come Oscar time.
Peace,
Mike.

Actos is not locked as long as O'Toole is nominated. There will be huge wave next month to give him the win.

I think Whitaker should deliver his Oscar speech in character.

Everyone keeps saying that after every time Whitaker wins yet another Best Actor award... and nothing changes.

Whitaker only wins every critic award so far, none of whom votes for oscar. If he wins SAG, which I highly doubt, then he is good.

I was worried Little Miss Sunshine might win. Though this doesn't leave me as elated as a Babel win would, I am still very happy The Departed won.
Now, Babel simply must conquer the Globes Monday night.

And now if The Departed wins GG Drama and Director, suddenly whatever surge Babel and LMS have shown will be reverted back to The Departed firmly being the frontrunner again.

Babel being shutout is pleasant. Looks like it can get all the nominations, but winning is another story.
I'm tempted to create a "Babel will not win any of it's Oscar nominations" thread. It'll be nominated like crazy, but win nothing. Hmmm - is that possible?
Peace,
Mike.

Score will Babel's best chance, but other than that, I indeed see nothing.

I really thought that Little Miss Sunshine would win Best Comedy as the consolation prize. And then when Borat won it instead, and Little Miss Sunshine started dominating, I thought it might really win Best Picture. But now when I think about it, Little Miss Sunshine really just got 2 main categories. The 2 young actor/actress categories don't really mean much.
Peace,
Mike.

And look like The Queen probably has to settle with one win both at GG and Oscar.
