Great for The Departed!

With Half Nelson getting so much ink lately, Shareeka Epps is in contention in the supporting category (I already have her on my list) especially with it being quite weak this year.

United 93 for Ensemble? Eh. I don't like seeing this movie on so many of these awards and lists. I thought it was great and all and gave it an A but they should just give it an honorary award or something and let it go.

Might I say, also, that United 93's campaign is starting to turn pretty insane. I was driving down Sunset in LA/Hollywood and there was a billboard with a FYC ad for U93.

I am overly joyed with Mark Wahlberg win and Alec Baldwin mention as well.

Finally some great news for United 93. A true classic, no one could have done better movie in this genre. And only famous actors can get award? The cast of United 93 was amazing, considering that they aren't great actors on their own, but as a team, as a group, they were fantastioc!

F'king hilarious, I'd say. A big H'wood movie set in Boston sweeps the Boston Film Critics awards .. in other surprises bears shit in the wood & the Pope says he's Catholic.

Ryan is getting a nom! I don't know about Shareeka though. She was, of course, equally as good, but for a movie that small (what, 3 million?) to take two noms in the Oscars is really unthinkable. The fact that Streep got runner-up over Hudson, though, proves my point. She'll win come the Oscars.

Didn't expect Pan's Labyrinth to beat out Volver. Not because I haven't heard good things about it, but because it is kind of fantasy/muppets/cgi (or whatever) that I didn't think people usually voted on. This could play out in a most interesting fashion in the future if people continue to support it.

Good showing by The Queen, especially considering The Departed's tie to Boston, as Libs mentioned. Glad to see Michael Sheen got his first mention.

United and Departed. No Dreamgirls in sight. Those are my kind of nominations

I've always loved the Boston Critics group. Except for last year (2005, where they had what was a copy and paste of the Oscars) they have awesome winners every single year.

In 2004, they gave lots of support to House of Flying Daggers and gave a nod to Laura Dern for We Don't Live Here Anymore.

In 2003, they had the best fucking winners ever. Other than Mystic River's wins, the rest are superb. They gave both Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson wins, too. Too good for the Oscars.

Well, I've seen the other front-runner Dreamgirls already and it can't get much more disappointing. And I think you can root for The Departed without having seen it, since Scorsese got robbed so many times

Can they still put Streep in the supporting category? Because she could definitely beat Jennifer Hudson and win her 3rd Oscar with this role.

I thought she was Lead Actress for Prada, and Supporting for Prairie Home. They're not going to put both of her performances in the same category, that's for sure.

Yeah, I know she's lead. But let's face it, her biggest shot is with Prada. I mean, did they forget Altman's movie all the sudden??? Why not putting Mery Streep for The Devil Wears Prada AND Prairie Home like they did it with Baldwin?


EDIT: the problem here is obvious - two films, two different studios. Meh.
