NUMBER 3!!!!

Image

Gone with the Wind

Director- Victor Fleming
Release- 1939
Acters- Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, Thomas Mitchell
Plot- In the times of the American Civil War, Scarlett O'Hara was in love with a man, but she neglected the man who loved her, and when she realized this, she lost her chance of true love.

Reason it made the top ten- what would be a top ten without the classic Gone with the Wind. By today standards this would be an avearge melodrama, but in its day it was thirty years ahead of its time. The acting was very good, but Clark Gable is the one who stood out the strongest. Not one of my personal favorites, but I consider this to be the world's first sopa opera.

Number 2!!!!!

Image

The Godfather

Diretor- Francis Ford Coppola
Release- 1972
Acters- Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Castellano, Robert Duvall
Plot- Don Vito Corleone is the head of Organized Crime Business, and he wants his son to take over, but Michael wants to live the normal life. After Don Vito refuses an offer by Virgil Sollozzo, Virgil plans to kill him.

Reason for being in the top ten- This is one of those films that when it came out, you knew it was going to be a classic. The acting, the direction, the story, almost everythong is magnificent. The story is complex on many different terms, and the performances by Brando and Pacino are no short of perfection. This is a must for everyone's top ten. In fact, this could just as easily be number one.

Number One

Image

Casablanca

Director- Michael Curtiz
Release- 1942
Acters- Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Dooley Wilson

Plot- Rick Blaine is an American in exile in Casblanca, Morocco. When his former lover, Ilsa, who's husband is on the run from the Nazis, comes to Casablanca. Rick pledges to help them get out. To Rick's misfortune, she starts to fall back in love with him.

Reason it was number one!- This movie is number one because it is the greatest romance ever, the most well contrucuted stoy ever, great action scenes for its time, the greatest ending, and despite its age, it can still compeat in today's blockbuster world. sure this isn't as epical as Return of the King, The Empire Strikes Back, or Lawrence of Arabia, but its story is more well contructed. Will another movie pass this as number one?? Several say The Godfather already has, and AFI had Citizen Kane at number one. But to my view, it might be some time until we can honestly say, that is the greatest movie of all time.
