I should have made that connection. I was like, who? Pierce Brosnan isn't in The Untouchables!

Heh. Goldfinger is my favorite Bond, with Dr. No and Diamonds are Forever right behind.

Yes, Connery is the man! Goldfinger is my second favorite, but I can understand why it's most people's favorite.

That's not a problem. I can probably finish up by the end of Monday or Tuesday. By the way, you REALLY need to rent The Usual Suspects. We've been after you to do that for long enough!

Raiders rocks. Pulp Fictin rocks. As Good As It Gets rocks. Mav, your list rocks. =D>

I remember when Lion King came out on VHS. I couldn't wait. My mom had it hidden...I remember calling up my mom and saying "Mommy Mommy where is it? Can I just see it? I've done all my homework. I won't open it I promise! I just want to see it!"

Ahh, I loved the Lion King.

23. Million Dollar Baby (2004) My heart is still broken.
24. The Breakfast Club (1985) - Just a great great character study on teenagers from all walks of life.

26. Beverly Hills Cop (1985) - I can't believe how many younger people have never seen this.
27. Rocky (1976) - The ultimate underdog story.

I wanna kill... e.. very... one... satan is good... satan is our pal.

I disagree with your comment though... Rick Ducommun and Bruce Dern completely steal that movie away from Tom Hanks.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. Dern was especially good, but Hanks was easily behind those two. He was still great in it, and is better in comedies.

"I've never seen that! I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the end of the driveway and then beat the hell out of it with a shovel...I've never seen that."

Hans? That's a fine Christian name!

The 'burbs should go on the underrated movies list. It truely is a weird cult classic.

I like the really cheesy close up of the bones in the back of the trunk at the end.

I agree totally. It's one of those movies that will just make you laugh and laugh, yet many people probably don't know of it today. I really expected both Dern and Ducommun to become more prominent in comedies after that, but Ducommun's most high profile gig after that 9that I can think of) was Groundhog Day, in which he had a small part, and Dern really didn't go the comic route. (or much any route)

31. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - The best prison movie ever!
32. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - I was Ferris' age (17) when this came out, so you can imagine how I loved this movie.

37. Star Wars EP IV: A New Hope (1977) - Just watched it the other day, and it's as great as ever.
38. JFK (1991) - Gripping from start to finish!
39. Caddyshack (1980) - One of the greatest comedies ever made!
40. A Few Good Men (1992) - My #1 favorite drama.

I completely was uninterested in the era of pumped up action heroes while it was happening (Arnold/Stallone/HULK HOGAN!/Jean Claude Van Damme/etc.etc.etc.)

I get so sick and tired of seeing all of these so called best lists. Best according to what? Half of the filsm that they put on these lists, no one has heard of and they are from another time all together. I haet the arguement that films from the days gone by are better than many of todays films. Some are, sure, but many are so cardboard and so generic and so inferior to today's films that it is laughable. Take a look at the acting in film like Gone With The Wind and Casablanca. Attrocious. And the writing is laughable as well. Seriously. My list is going to include personal favourites of course, but it is also going to films that are enjoyable, well made and they will be films that most of you have heard of. Agree, disagree, I don't care. But these are the 100 best made films for various reasons. Without further ado...here we go.

100) Basic Insitnct- One fo the best scripts of the 90's. One of the best female performances ever. And very sexy.
99) Mystic River- One of Clint's best. Strong performance and very strong writing.
98) The Passion of the Christ- Tough and brutal to watch, but what a film!
97) Animal House- One of the best teen comedies out there.
96) Psycho- The Granddaddy of all horror films.
95) Full Metal Jacket- One of Kubrick's best, and what a performance by Donofrio.

91) Sideways- An almost perfect film.
90) The Fugitive- Harry's best film without Steven and George.
89) Platoon- Stone's mesmerizing war epic.
88) Porky's- Bob Clark's raunchy and nasty tribute to getting laid in highschool
87) Jaws 2- Not Spielberg's, but still damn scary.
86) In The Bedroom- One of the best scripts of our time and a very emotional film.
85) Fight Club- First rule of Fight club...donot talk about Fight Club.
84) A Few Good Men- Cruises best performance. Reiner's masterpiece, and Jack.
83) When Harry Met Sally- What Woody Allen only wishes he could write.

74) Extreme Prejudice- One of Nick Nolte's rare unknowqn films, but perhaps his best.
73) Fargo- The Coen's Best.
72) Falling Down- Schumacher's vastly under rated film about a man who loses touch with reality. Powerful.

31. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - The best prison movie ever!
32. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - I was Ferris' age (17) when this came out, so you can imagine how I loved this movie.
33. The Wedding Singer (1998) - My favorite Adam Sandler movie. The terrible 80's music had it's charm.
34. Predator (1987) - Arnold at his best, against one unstoppable foe!
35. Bonnie and Clyde (1967) - One of my earliest serious movie experiences. The final scene is how it really happened.
36. Young Frankenstein (1974) - Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks doing a perfect sendup of the classic horror films.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is such a fun movie!
