I don't remember exactly. I had over 400m for much more then a year.

Meh. BJ was the most consistent predictor of this movie. Although he'll be way off with his mutliplier.

Checked the first page of the pirates thread. From Jan 7th 2005. So, a year and a half: DP07 wrote: It's a lock for a 100m opening if it is a 3 day. No doubt about that in my mind. Like Shrek, Meet the Parents and The Bourne Identity, the original had great WOM. In fact, the wom was arguably better then any of those. The fanbase has greatly expanded on DVD. The demographic appeal is so wide that I think it will be the blockbuster of 2006. I think it will top 60m on opening day considering that it's the summer. Also, based on the past, weekend records are always shattered every few years, and clearly Spiderman's record is increasingly vulnerable by this point. This movie should easily reset the record books.
155m/430m
I think I underestimated the legs though. I increased them later after thinking about it.

haha, from that same day:
BJ wrote: Nazgul9 wrote: DP07 wrote: I think it will top 60m on opening day considering that it's the summer. No way will this make $60m on opening day. I see this making a bit less or more than the first. oh it can I watched this film 3 times in the theater and I know some people that watched it over 5 times in the theater. The first film had an awesome crowd reaction and I dont expect that to change for the second film 8) I dont think the opening day will be the one over 60m I think it will be the second day. I think this film will increase its second day beacause off the tipe of fanbase it has. So everyone that will have wanted to see this film will most likely see it in its opening wknd and after that is all repete viewings 8) Why would this make less than the first film its got 400m written all over it 8) how much do you think the most anticipated film of 2006 will open with :?: I think well over 150m 8) BJ wrote: BJs prediction:
Friday: 52.60m
Saturday: 60.49m +15%
Sunday: 45.36m -25%
Opening Wknd: 158.45m
Domestic total: 444m
2.8 multiplyer 8)
just barely passing shrek/Drek 2
So, both me and BJ were over 150m 18 months ago.
A majority of predictions on that first page were 90m or lower.

58 is way too high IMO. Not enough midnights to make that possible. It already had to make up a huge deficit on Sith's midnights (around 6 or so million) to catch up to its ~50.

I felt like I was pretty loud about it. But I guess I didn't want to keep repeating myself. Until the final week, but that was all my reaction to hype.

Sith had only 33m without midnights. This clearly did far better the rest of the day then TDVC and X3. Neither of those were close to selling everything out like this, as well as they might have done.
