But part of me wonders if it can shock with like 83m and head for a 700m gross. DP07, I love your predictions but that's beyond anything possible. Even $62 million feels impossible.
There are only so many seats to go around. 50 mill aint happening, let alone 62 or 83 (are you seriously smoking crack?).

Well for one thing, I'm excited to go opening weekend. And everyone knows I'm a bitch about action movies. I didn't bother seeing Narnia, MI3, X2, or Superman Returns. More or less eagerly anticipating opening day and maybe even buying tickets in advance.
I remember him saying somewhere (in another thread) when I said I couldn't wait for Pirates that it would be good because the appeal of the film transcended the typical action movie fanbase.
I think about 115 opening, and 320-ish total. It won't reach 400. It might have if I was seeing 90% over at RT, or if Keith Richards managed to have done his cameo role, but I'll stick with 320 total right now.

Hehe, Richards would have brought this another $80 million?!

I think he said once he would never do a movie (urban myth?). So I think people were incredibly excited about his presence. It would have also added appeal to some older crowds for nostalgia purposes, and to music fans, of course. And Depp did say Rickards was part of his inspiration for the character, and I think fans were excited at the idea of the artist and the muse coming together.
I know, I know. In name alone, right? I'd have put Pirates at 125 opener (depending on theatre/screen count) and 400 total. But alas, 'twas not meant to be....

HSX is at 308.57 and that means around a 110 million weekend.
(well based on most previous movies you take the total and divide by 2.8 to get the opening weekend)

Ooo. A new Disney being unveiled with this film's release!

Well that's certainly a departure, and I admit I'm having trouble visualizing it. Castles inside a city? There weren't any cities in the times of the castles. The castle WAS the city, surrounded by pristine countryside etc. Now the castle gets to compete with skyscrapers and Starbucks. When you wish upon a star, it does makes a difference where you are. You rarely even see stars in a city because of the light pollution. There go all the little girl fairy-tale memories from my childhood (yes, I had them, sue me).

Hey guys, quick question here. Is there something after the credits for Pirates like a scene or trailer for Pirates 3?? I just want to know to I don't get screwed again like I did on X3.

I believe so. Just stay behind anyway, POTC music kicks ass, and you get to avoid traffic.

I'm tempted to increase my prediction to 535m. I've long wanted to go with 550m, but have been playing it safe.

Forget it.
Final: 177m/550m
OD: 65m
Well, I'm tempted to predict that. But, should I? Now, I'm thinking twice. Perhaps I should hedge with only 162m.
