1000 posts, bitchez.

And yeah, I just don't see how it can't beat Spider-Man at this point. This is the highest anticipation for a Friday opener in forever.

It's possible with 12,000 screens if SM can get 130m (adjusted) with 7,000 screens. The capacity is more then there. The demand has never been there until perhaps now.

I really think this is one of those movies that tracking can only tell us so much. It has a huge female appeal that depending on how it comes out the movie could really soar. It has the capacity! Thta the main thing. Now we just have to sit back, make our final predictions. And ENJOY seeing the numbers come bounding in.

All Sparrow has to do is sacrifice himself for Keira Knightly and we got a 600 million grosser on our hands!

The capacity is there, but I don't think we'll be seeing $175-200 million openings for another couple of years. The demand at this point with ticket prices just isn't inhumanly high enough. I'll buy $150-160 million, maybe.

Maybe if The Hobbit comes out in 2009 we can see something that big.

"Dead Man's Chest" opens in U.S. theaters on July 7, and expands around the globe in weeks ahead. Audience expectations are running high, which is a good sign for Disney because it has spent a reported $450 million to make "Dead Man's Chest" and an upcoming movie in its trilogy of "Pirates" films.

Damn, about 225m for each film.

First of all, PotC2 does not have a grasp on every demographic. There are many movie-goers out there ( a lot of them being 50+ years old) who dislike anything that has CGI in it. It is also about pirates; not everyone likes pirates.

Also, though it may have a grasp on most demographics, that doesn't mean it interests everyone in each of those demos. Far from it.

$180M on opening weekend? If you're going that way, why not predict $200M or $250M?

Tracking indicated 60% definite interest on people above 35 years old. That's really good.

I can't find the original tracking from 2 weeks ago but I can sum it up to you with the movie's definite interest with each demographic

Male Teens - 77%
Female Teens - 70%
Male 20-35 - Can't remember but above 70%
Female 20-25 - 75%
Adults 35+ - 60%

All demographics but 35+ have over 70% definite interest. Also, all of them had 1% or 0% "Not aware." Now that the movie's closer and the commercials kicked in, I can see some of them being above 80%.

HSX: Current price: H$301.01 Change: +4 3/8

Opening of: $107.50. The opening was at about $95 m earlier in June, and its price has gone up close to 17 points just this week. The momentum is really starting to build for it now.

POTC 3 is already at an $86 m opening weekend.

if this is ture i think i can charge people $5 to park on my drive way to go to the theater, its about a min walk, just down the street really. I am quite shocked that there is more hype among teen boys then teen girl. I think the Young people crowd (which really drove x-mens opening above most peoples expectations) mixed in with a strong older people crowd could pull off a 110 million plus opening.

I stick with 106 million now.

THAT HSX number was below 300 million yesterday :hahaha:

5 clips that show much (because they are being smart by not leaking much out at all) but show Johnny Deep still has that Charm from the first one so i think it will be a good film. It easily shows that Captain Jack black steals the show again.

Well not 100% accurate but...
How much are you looking forward to "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"?
Seeing it sometime opening weekend - 38.1%
I'm already standing in line! -17.2%
I'll see it eventually, but I'm not dealing with the crowds- 15.9%
I haven't even seen "Superman Returns" yet!- 12.5%
I'm not going to bother seeing it - 6.1%
I've already bought my tickets - 5.8%
I've been watching it in my mind for the last three years and I need serious help - 4.4%
So people seeing it 81% and about 65.5% opening weekend.

No some my question these but when SR was not doing so well in these kinds of polls on BOM, and they were right it did not become a monster.

Well, considering every massive blockbuster besides the Passion has special effects, this is still bigger then anything else in a comparision.

And people not liking Pirates? Please.
