Ya, the 0 number of black chicks that frequented BOM's Reel Life found it offensive.
Go figure.

Krem wrote: The family is perfectly right for suing Walmart here. By not putting the "Parental advisory" sticker on the CD, Walmart has implicitly advised the parents that there are no dirty words on the CD. Whether those parents deserve $75,000 (they don't) is irrelevant here; the court will award them some money, or they will settle with Walmart. In either case, it won't be as much as $75K.
Theyre not perfectly right ... theyre just legally allowed to ... and we all know that the law doesn't always guarantee something right ..
whatever happened to the day when you could just go and inform someone they made a mistake and let it be ... sigh ....
anyhoo, as tony also mentioned, Wal-Mart is stupid ... knowing the kind of society theyre in where anyone is willing to make a bit of cash, they should go easy on their stupid marketing of "family store" and just ease up a bit ...

nobody sued anyone when the superbowl happened ..
i have nothing against the principle of the thing at all .. wal-mart screwed up ... the parents are right to be pissed ... just as the crowd was right to be pissed when the superbowl thing happened ... american society was not ready for that ....
but suing someone for 75000 dollars has absolutely nothing to do with your anger or anything ... its just another stupid way to find a way to make some more dough off someone cause they can be made to easily look bad ....

I say when she gets older and understands what happened and when the parents end up spending all that money on her college education, she shhould sue them for allowing people like us to ridicule her on internet forums.

1) That doesn't make it right. 2) It sure wasn't too far away to see for those who actually saw it and filed complaints. It's those who complained initially that brought it to the attention of the media first, and that got the wheel turning. I thought those who sued CBS for it were just silly, but the reaction to it itself was not dumb. Overblwon, yes, but it was a stunningly stupid move on Jackson's part (and Timberlake's). The great consolation here is that Jackson's album was not anything of a major hit. I like how that turned out.
Peple complained ... people didn't sue .. big difference ... what happened at superbowl is even justifiable (in terms of its reaction) ...
I ave no issues with people feeling a certain way about something .. i have issues with people taking advantage of the situation ...

there is a key difference between the two stunts, and that involves the setting. the Madonna/Spears thing was at the MTV Awards, which are known for their stupidity anyways, so any viewer watching them knows what he or she is getting.
The Jackson indicent was completely out of tune with the intended nature of the program, and was shown in front of an audience that had no intention of watching something like it. Something similar is with that Housewives gig. Those stunts will never work because the audience they try to go after will reject them coldly. That's why Jackson's album didn't fare better, and why Housewives (which was big anyways) did not register significant increases in viewership as a direct result of the stunt. So are you in favor of ridiculous censorship?
I dont think this is an issue about censorship at all ...
Look you take your kids to go watch finding nemo, you dont expect to see a quarter of a second shot of a woman's boob or a guy's dick .. you just dont.
Its the same with superbowl ... its a family event and its not something the american society wishes to see. If you want to show stuff like that, first get your population to accept it or do it more commonly .. and please, most importantly, dont make such a big deal out of it .. its even sadder when it blew up on their face ... they freaking built that moment up for a couple of days screaming out that people will see something never seen before during janet's performance ...
if you consider that to be an issue of censorship, you should just consider taking off wanring labels and things off everything .. last time i checked, everything had a proper rating ....

yes i know ... I'm talking about the reaction .. I'm differentiating between people reacting to an event and suing someone for it ... i dont have a confirmation but i'm sure lovemerox was refering to how people in general reacted to the whole thing ... not the situation where people sued ...
btw, another thing though .. i'm sure wal-mart didn't intentionally let something liek that slip ..... for all people know, cbs might actually be in on that scam ... but thats no more than speculation and has no relevance on my initial point.

All that aside, its ridiculous that we get upset over a cuss word. ITS A FRIGGEN WORD PEOPLE! Why are we worrying over trivial shit like a boob and a cuss word on a CD, more than actual problems America and other countries are facing. Perhaps if we devoted half the time we did to other more IMPORTANT causes than we did over petty shit like this, we would be better off.

Well, atleast in this case, i think it has more to do with the fact that if you promise someone something and they don't deliver, then its a bit of a piss off ... the only thing is, parents should realize that once in a while, a mistake can happen..
I know if my kid is like 8 and he/she wants a cd, i'd be okay if theres a cuss word in the cd somewhere but if its dominated by it, i wouldn't ... cause i never want them to think that thats an okay way to talk ... and if someone otu there keeps guaranteeing me that a situation like that will never happen with their products, i would be a bit pissed off ... and i will go back to the store and speak with the manager or atleast the person incharge of that dept to point out the mistake.
