Yeah, I didn't notice that.
Awhile back I found on some website that the long/lat related to the numbers puts the Lost island in the middle of the Pacific. I don't know how it works out, as I'm not really familiar with how the long/lat system works.

Like you, i don't agree with loyal regarding 24. However, that doesn't mean that you get to tell people that they broke their site's rules. You've done that to me before, and I told you that I don't appreciate comments like these. Especially coming from you. If you want to manage a forum, you have the deli to take care of. Right. So just attacking someone for no contextual reason whatsoever is okay. I should at that to Oscars list.
That's not the point and you know it.

Map for Latitude 4.815 and longtitude 162.342
I think it's a stretch, though.
Like with numbers adding and substracting, you can rearrange the numbers to get to a whole bunch of different places on Eart.

Well, we got to 100 pages, but not because of the show.

Yeah the map I have shows closer to Tahiti... maybe the fans just moved it or something? Hrm.
Also the longitude you supplied is awfully close to Howland Island. That's the island where Amelia Earhart was going to when she disappeared over the Pacific.
I always have had an impressin that that would figure into the show somehow.

Yeah, I've heard the Amelia Earhart angle before. Sounds promising.

It would have been 102+ but baba didn't come in here to scoff for some reason. Probably busy working or travelling.

The Lost forums are abuzz today ( http://www.lost-forums.com) with theories, especially about the statue... everything from obscure book references (fits lost), Ozymandias of Egypt, statues of the Hindi fertility god (I believe it's Sati), the Colossus of Rhodes, and the larger theory that the Island may be some sort of Atlantis.
They also point out that Penny is similar to Penelope, Odysseus' lover who waits 20 years for Odysseus to come home.
Desmond's last name is Hume. Read this:

Hmm... I won't comment on the stuff from the past few pages. I like everyone involved in it, so I'm not going to start argument, especially several hours past the incident.
As for the finale, I'm in the "great" group. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the episode.
As for Locke, Desmond and Eko, I'm also in the "not dead" group. My reasoning? The writers wouldn't waste an opportunity to kill off main characters in the Season 3 premiere. Why wait? Why not let us know now? The answer? Because they want us to keep guessing all summer whether they are dead or not. And just because of that reason, that's why they're alive.
Right now, I'd have to place this mildly above the 24 finale (sorry Loyal). Then again, I'm one of those people that actually feels that Season 2 was a great season. I think I'm closest to andaroo on that, considering most of the episodes he didn't like, I didn't like.

Desmond's middle name is David, too, so his full name is Desmond David Hume. Another philosopherian name.
That shot of the statue was one of the most intriguing and frightening things about last night's episode. I was instantly reminded of Planet of the Apes ("Damn you!), and I didn't even notice the four toes thing until Sayid mentioned it.
That finale was packed with clues.

Four toes on the statue only means one thing.
The Simpsons control everything.

Here's something that did bother me quite a bit about the finale: when the noise got unbearable for the island and the sky turned white... how come no one questioned it afterwards? Henry and the Others went along like it was business as usual afterwards.
Let me tell ya, if the sky turns white here, I'm heading for zee hills.

It's not like it's a board rule but if I watch a Grey's Anatomy or Alias or something and think it sucks, I try to avoid going in there and bashing it when I'm clearly not one of the main fans. I'm not always good about that, just saying it's a general tendancy.
Like for example, Scrubs is awful, a waste of time that doesn't deserve to be on the air. But do I go posting that a lot in the Scrubs thread? No I let them have their delusion that it's something other than a crappy mediocre sitcom.
@loyal, did you watch the whole finale today on torrent or abc site? Because as of last night you seemed to have come in half way through and missed a lot of it. Right, because making a statement like that is less of a provocation. This is why I'm not as anti-Michael as many here are, he's right in that most Americans are too literal minded.
*sigh*
I guess I do deserve that.

I think if the Others were *that* concerned about the hatch they would have taken more direct action. I think either way, they knew that this group of people were going to let the button go at some point. It was no surprise to them.

Tremendous finale.
The hatch issues, the reasons behind the plane crash, the Libby connection... god, everything! I was rapt in the same way I was throughout most of this season of 24. If only the rest of the season could've been like this.
I loved how Michael/The Others outsmarted them in the end... being nowhere near the beach and all that. I loved that Sayid uncovered the truth behind the shanty town - what with the hatch being fake and all. The flashbacks in both hours were terrific, and the return of Clancy Brown was more than welcome.
And am I one of the few who thought the final bit with Penny tracking down the island was quite cool? After that foreshadowing comment about having the money and resources to find anyone, it rang true and added a whole new element to the show.
Still it's depressing that the season on a whole was just a build up to two tremendous hours. I'd have preferred things to move along a little quicker.

True. But even the Losties weren't all that concerned afterwards. All Claire said was something about the sky turning a weird color. They couldn't have all expected it to happen eventually, like the Others did.
I don't know... Seriously, I'm just nitpicking a small, almost microscopic thing about the finale. I loved the episode. It gave answers, while posing new ones. Not much more to ask for (for me, at least... can't speak for Loyal and yoshue).

what is hanso?
its november and the island looks gorgeous. judging by the weather, the leaves and the time of year, where does it place it? certainly not the arctic i imagine.

Okay, before I comment on the episode itself:
I am fully with andaroo and whoever agrees with him on the issue.
Loyal, you can dislike Lost for all you want. That is a personal preference,. nothing against that. I never liked several other beloved shows, no big deal.
However, when I did not like something for a looong time, I stopped watching. In your case, I can just keep hoping that you would shut up on weekly basis and finally give up (even though knowing that you won't because deep inside you do like it but, hey, it'd be a shame for you if you admitted that). So go ahead.

Hanso has been mentioned before, but I'm a little foggy on details.
The dude said that the key was a failsafe or something? I dunno... he said it would put an end to everything.
Really, I have no answers. This is the most pointless response you'll ever receive. Even more pointless than telling you my screen resolution is 800x600.

As far as my reactions go...
It was a great, great episode. By far the best of the second season and one of the best overall. I did like the first season's finale as well, so I consider them equal.
It did answr some questions, but left even more open. he four-toed statue is creepy. It is probaböly what intrigued me the most about the whole thing. The acting was superb all-around. The look on Locke's face the moment he realizes that he was wrong is incredible. The cliffhanger is great, not knowing whether Eko and Locke survived. I assume they did simply because of one reason: The makers would never kill off two of the most beloved characters of the show at once.
The whole electromagnitism thing was great, even though we all saw it coming. Just like Henry Gale being the leader which I called many episodes ago. The guy who plays him does an excellent job. Hopefully more of him in the next season.
What irritated me was how people reaction to what happened to the hatch apparently. Why Charlie didn't want to look after Eko and Locke there. Maybe he knew something... But why did other castaways not run there to help?
By the way, didn't anyone notice the reference to the Odyssey? Penelope? Left at home while the man who loves her went to sail the seas?
The ending didn't blow me away, but it was certainly interesting.
For the next season:
I hope they won't bring in too many new characters with new flashbacks because the show would go on forever with those then.
I hope we'll see a lot of Henry Gale.
I hope we'll finally find out what happened to Locke's legs before the crash.
I hope we'll find out about Jack's sister.
I hope the four-toed statue will be explained.
