I think the "boring" factor the critics have all been talking about will affect the WOM a little bit, decresing it's full potential legs.

Your opening weekend daily totals are almost to the penny what I predicted. I haev it at abotu 82 mill for the weekend, but it is uncanny at how close we the films for each day. Our precentage increase and decrease is pretty much exact with me seeing a 10% increase on Satu and a 18% decrease on Sunday.

83.5
Total- 255

Look at it like this:

Cinderella Man was perhaps one of the best reviewed films of last year and it was laregely ignored by the public. This film will be panned by most critics and will make at least 250 mill. Now whichj one would Ron Howard rather have? I'd say the latter. Again, just proving that critics aren't worth the price of the paper that they work for.

How in the hell in DAVC going to make $225-$250M? You need massive WOM for that. And yes, there have been movies that defied the critics, but when you go as low at 18% on RT, that's no fluke. There will be no WOM.

My prediction is that this is going to look like Matrix Revolutions, if they're lucky. $185M or so, at most.

How is there no WOM when the public hasn't seen it yet? And btw, the people who have seen it that enjoyed the book also, are raving about it.

If it makes 80-90 mill this weekend, then it will drop no more than about 40% next weekend, if the WOM is terrible. And if that is the case, then it will make about another 50 mill for the weekend. Add in the weekdays before next weekend, and the film is already going to be at about 155-160 mill. You honestly believe it will make 20 mill more and that's it? Be realistic.

I'm still not getting the parallel some are drawing between the Friday box office of Star Wars: ROTS and the Da Vinci Code.

I can't imagine the wide demographic I saw last year, taking the day off work/school and waiting in the parking lot for ROTS - and many of those Star Wars fans were there to see it 2-3 times back-to-back.

I can't really imagine some 20-something either taking the day off work and seeing DVC, nor seeing it more than once...

No. I'm just commenting that there are people that do like it. I am not equating that to WOM though Baba.

Not the public. The "raido hosts " and such who have had advanced screenings.
