BJs Crowd Report:

Movie: The Da Vinci Code
Theater: Century 16 Theaters
Time: 11:25am
Seater / Pack: 350 seater / sold out  the whole parking lot was full and everyone was going to this film instead of Over the Hedge.
Trailers:

Lady in the Water this looks far better than I could have ever expected, the crowd realy seemed to enjoy the trailer as well.
Click: the usual good reaction.
Cars: Outstanding reaction, I thought it was the best trailer disney has released for the film.
Omen 666 a fantastic amount of buzz, looks good.

Crowd Reaction: Lots of Talking, the crowd seemed to enjoy the film.

Review: Good film, I could see every scene pretty much as I saw it in the book. Totaly outstanding visually, great performances all around though McKellen stole the show  I want to see it again :bigbrin:

Grade: A-

Looking out my window the parking lot has been packed since 6:00. Its about as busy as Hp4, which pulled one of the largest openings of all time IN Canada. A lot of hype and talk on the radio. Its huge. Its not flopping.

8:30 show is sold out and 8 pm shows are sold out on two screen. Late shows are close to selling out.

The other theater has been sold out at 8-11 pm shows.

I live in Brampton.
There are a lot of adults watching these films.

My friend went and said its really packed. It will be busy all weekend as it is a holiday on Monday in Canada. I am going monday. Watch for a small monday drop and huge tuesday drop.

woh i am going on fanadago and theaters in Downtown Toronto are going nuts.
Only very few theaters are selling online. I report 13 sell outs at 5 theaters in the Torotno area at 9:pm. As time reaches the 10:30, 11 pm showings i expect them to sell out

Bleh why oh why did I bump my Over the Hedge prediction by nearly 10 mill?

The theater I go to wasn't really crowded line-wise but I haven't seen the parking lot that full since The Passion came out. And there were people from some church (surprise) outside protesting, which is definitely a first.

I saw TDC at 3:30 pm. There were 4 screens. Mine was 90% full. I think below $20M for today is now impossible.

6:15, 6:45, and 7:00 of Da Vinci all sold out. Over The Hedge hasn't had a single sell out yet. I seriously can't see Da Vinci doing anything less than $25 million today.

Well, I'm coming to you LIVE from RONNIE'S 20 CINE where the Lot is about 75% full and probably in favor of THE DA VINCI CRAP.. I'd have to say right now, this movie will get around 70-80 Million then put a fork in it once everyone see's how bad it really is..

yeah 30 million is pretty much what it will get. It will be interesting to see if TDVC will drop or increase on saturday. If it drops, I wonder if it would be like Village saturday percent

I don't think people will dislike it, but I wouldn't be surprised with a 55% drop next weekend, despite the holiday. It just isn't repeat-viewing friendly, as someone said earlier.

Matinee Performance (before 6)

DaVinci Code
10:45 - 86
11:30 - 56
12:30 - 100
1:00 - 132
1:45 - 99
2:15 - 102
3:00 - 165
4:00 - 136
4:30 - 143
5:15 - Sold Out (175 seater)
5:45 - Sold Out (190 seater)
the 6:30 was 75% full in the 400 seater after I left. The 8:00 got over 60% full so far (600 seater). It looks to sell out for the rest of the night. Well, I can say that it trumped Harry Potter 4. I think my 80 million prediction looks bearish.

Over the Hedge
11:15 - 18
11:50 - 13
12:25 - 11
1:00 - 14
1:35 - 14
2:10 - 32
2:45 - 22
3:20 - 35
3:55 - 47
4:30 - 71
5:05 - 27
5:40 - 47
the 6:15 got 70 so far.
(I don't like the look of this. This was actually on Par with Robots).

See No Evil
12:10 - 9
1:00 - 7
2:30 - 1
3:25 - 13
4:45 - 14
5:40 - 6
(Actually, it could have been worse).

All of the holdovers, not surprisinginly, all barely registered (very few of them hit double digits). Some of the Poseidon's show were empty. Davinci Code did 62% of all the matinee business here. Davinci Code and Over the Hedge together did 80% of the busniess, so expect bigger than expected drops for the holdovers.

Checked on Fandago, all of the late shows sold out, some theaters added new screens out of nowhere as well and they were sold out. After 8pm it appears the theaters got really busy.

In my city the other theater was sold out after 8:pm. My theater (across the street) is jammed.

I can offically say it did not flop.

Well, at least I predicted 50%+ drops for everything in the derby. It should make up for OTH.

And thats amazing for DVC. How many tickets have been bought for tomorrow?

Not a lot, but I expect them to buy them all at the window anyway.

I think the reason why this theater in my city was so jammed is that in this city of 435,000 people there are only two theaters and 9 screens total showing Da vinci code. It appears it was huge in The Toronto area.

515 show at AMC in Missisauga- 90% full.
700pm show sold out
715 show sold out
730 show sold out

Late shows are selling out quickly.

As for the crowd I saw it with, it was mixed with teens and adults and the buzz seemed veru positive. As for me, I loved it and thought it was exactly what i had hoped it would be. WOM will be positive.

Looks like it's not a matter of if it can $30m on Friday, but by how much over.
