The good United 93 grade really surprises me. Even the review count is good. It might just be able to open very respectfully and have great legs.
PEACE, Mike.

Any other projections here? I'm thinking U93 is going to do pretty damn well.

Right now I'm thinking $5M for Akeelah, $4.5-$5M for RV, $3M for Stick It, and $4M for United 93. United is the hardest to guess, but I'm going with a 250 ratio because of the good grade and few fake reviews. Xiayun & DP07 are the pros at this, though, so wait for their estimates.

Yeah... that's why Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Samuel L. Jackson are among my favorite actors. They're good in everything. I just hate films that pander to one audience while making others look bad in the process.

Akeelah and the Bee 580, +16, B
RV 717, +20, B-
Stick It 924, +49, B+
United 93 1066, +100, B+
Projections:
Akeelah and the Bee - $4-6M
RV - $4.5-6.5M
Stick It - $2.5-4M
United 93 - $4M-7M
We're gonna be in for one hell of a morning tomorrow.

Based on the numbers so far, as well as crowd reports, I'd say:
Akeelah and the Bee - $3.5-4.5 million
RV - $4-5 million
Stick It - $3.5-4.5 million
United 93 - $4-5 million
A lot closer than I expected between openers.

Good to see clogging wasn't too bad this week. I'm impressed to see U93 with such a good grade and a backloaded trend. With RV being much more frontloaded I think it can actually have a higher ratio then U93. Stick It has also been less frontloaded even then RV and Akeelah.
I'd give U93 about 7m, Stick It about 3.5m, RV might get the same, and Akeelah 3m. I want the next update a least though to have a better idea of the 4 hour totals.

My projections:
United 93 - Probably the toughest to predict here; I'll go with 5.9m given the backloading.
Stick It - Good grade and backloaded trend are positives. 250 ratio and 25 4 hour both makes sense IMO, and would mean 3.8m.
RV - Frontpage probably had a major impact, and even without it I'm not sure the ratio would be under 100. Only 42 reviews in the final 4 hours. 3.3m.
Akeelah - Didn't hold up that well at night either, yet, 2.8 wouldn't be that poor for this movie.

if i was to have predicted U93s opening day, the numbers suggested are pretty much exactly what i would have said.

Box office Mojo didn't like their "we post numbers first" comment, and has taken Friday numbers giving to a new level...

Blah, crap projections on RV and U93. U93 was tough to project, but I should have been higher on RV. Akeelah certainly ended up with a high ratio.

What might explain Akeelah's high ratio? This really messed me up this weekend.

The only thing I can think of is that the film does appeal to the black audience, but I'm still surprised. I guess spelling bee fans are Internet fanatics too.

M:I3 does have two prominent ads on the front page, but both are linked to movietickets.com, so effects will be small. War of the Worlds had a ratio of 151.11 on its opening Wednesday. The backlash against Cruise has increased since then, and it's a sequel. However, with the ultra-saturation of prints and midnight showings, I think the ratio will be similar, in the 150 range.

I agree.
I'll go with 65 on Hoot; it feels really low to me.
180 for American Haunting IMO.

I'm somewhat high on Hoot since I think the grade will be lower than B-. I'll go with 100.
