This is no Cat in the Hat. With the music, the tone, the colors, the look, etc. it points to something dark. It's Burton playing tricks. No way will the final product consist of an upbeat, joyous film that doesn't include the wicked themes Burton always inputs into his films.
I love the marketing, but if it were more direct to most, it'd be more effective.

Judging by the first page.
"Omg, it looks... weird! :? :x  The music is annoying, but catchy! It looks childish but disturbing! OMG! LMAO!! Depp walked into the camera! He looks like Michael Jackson. It looks dark."
Conclusion, based on those detectively derived facts:
IT'S A BOMB!
:? It's a teaser. I don't think it's necessarily a bomb, anyway. The trailer may be amazing, and if so, I doubt people will say "Gee, you know, that trailer was good, but the teaser ruined it for me!" I think it could go either way. You know, cause it's a July movie people are predicting in December. I think it looks great, myself. Rather than say BOMB to justify my answer, I'll sum it up in one word: twisted.

I saw the trailer again last night when I saw Ocean's Twelve and it played much better on the big screen (Which isn't too shocking). The crowd reaction was also positive, so my expectations of it are a little bit higher now.

I just I'm kindof late on seeing the trailer, but I saw it and its terrible, Depp looks horrible in it, I think it will BOMB. Its also way to short.
