Well, I've seen this trailer and all I can say and what I've pretty much felt all along is that as great an actor Johnny Depp is, he is going to have some very, very large shoes to fill with this role and this looks like a total flipside to the Classic with Gene Wilder.. Lot's of luck Johnny and Tim Burton cause your going to need it.. The Gene Wilder Classic is just too imbedded in people's heads for those who grew up in that film for this to be any better...

Depp will blow this film out of the water. He has the talent and skill to make this film great. With burton behind the making and depp leading it this film is gonna rock.

Well, I wish IO could feel as confident as you are, but my mind is so ingrained with the Gene Wilder Classic that this is going to be a hard one to top.. Sort of like Burton's Planet of the Apes and how that movie couldn't touch the 68 Classic with Charleton Heston.. No way.. On that note, I'm surpsied Burton hasn't had a followup to Planet of the Apes???

He has the talent just watch POTC and Fear and loathing. This role will be easy for him and he will play it with ease. They were great together in sleep hollow and ed woods. Depp really is the onnly one that would make a great wonka. I am so glad Walken did not get the part.

I know its much like Ed wood cause ythats kinda what hes going for. but as you should know that Depp is never really the same role. its gonna be interesting seeing him as capt.jack again cause its something he normaly does not do. But again I will say that Depp is a rare actor and I think he will pull off wonka very well.

OMG, looks absolutely horrible! Not to mention most annoying trailer music of all time. Leave it to Warner Bros. to always find some way to screw their movies' marketing up.

Hehehe... I think it looks brilliant.
It looks crazy and creepy, just as it should be.
But it looks different from the origional, which is what I hoped for and expected.

I adore this trailer. If I could have sex with it, I'd probably marry it. Completely not what I was expecting, yet completely brilliant regardless.

I don't know folks.. I've watched this trailer again and I can't help but to smell a "Cat in the Hat" with this movie and as a result, angering moviegoers who cherish the Gene Wilder Classic so much.. Depp's a great actor no doubt, but again, these are going to be awfully big shoes for him to fill when comparing him to Gene Wilder.. Will see I suppose..

Actually, it looks great to me. Lots of updated edginess with the right amount of homage to the original film.

1. What the FUCK...!
2. Yeah, too many people love the Gene Wilder version too much .It's an american classic.
3. I do think, though, that if anyone today were able to top Gene Wilder's version, it'd be Burton and Depp. They both have the talent. With this type of film, it coul be either fantastic and brilliant, or ugly and horrific. There's no medium about it.
I'll defiitely be seeing it, but I refuse to expect more than I need to: A Tim Burton movie. I'm not expecting a worthy adaptation. I'm not expecting a worthy successor to the Gene Wilder version. All I want is a good movie, and I think Burton can deliver that much.
