I will post a review as soon as zing or Libs provide a MI3 review thread.

I believe only mods can create threads in the review forum. In the meantime, jb already posted a brief review in the crowd report thread.

BOM upped the estimated theater count to 4,000. No surprise there.

Yeah, as I said last week, it should come close or top the all time theatre count record. I see 4,100+ theatres.

It will beat Shreks2's opening record of 4,163 theaters by at least 50.

Let’s not waste any time. J.J. Abrams, you, are the next Steven Spielberg. What more can I say? Tom Cruise? Love him or hate him, he is the single biggest movie star in the history of the world and finally, he’s found the perfect vehicle for his unique talents. Cruise and Abrams is a match made in heaven and Mission: Impossible III is the fruit of their blessed union...........
....
....Mission: Impossible III is definitely the most entertaining film of the year. How long it will hold that title is something only Wolfgang Petersen, Ron Howard, and Brett Ratner, may know. The only sure bet is that May is going to give Ethan Hunt some stiff competition. For some reason, I have a feeling he’s not too worried about it. For now, Mission: Impossible 3 is the film to beat. Those other directors had better have something bigger and badder than Owen Davian up their sleeves. Anything less is going down. A year ago I never thought I’d say this but thank you Tom Cruise. And ten years ago when I first started collecting stubs, I never thought I’d say this for obvious reasons, but thank you J.J. Abrams. Felicity, Alias, Lost and now this? We should consider ourselves lucky.

A score of 6 on the Yahoo Buzz Index something usually seen for 10m openers at this point. It might be split between MI3, Mission Impossible, and Mission Impossible 3 etc. but it's still not a good sign.

So YAHOO is the OFFICIAL word on whether this film opens well or not?? I'd be very surprised if this movie opened under 70 Million this weekend..

It will have good WoM and a decent multiplier.

Poseidon is ranked ahead of this on the yahoo buzz index. Pathetic.
WSEX's line is at 66m. However, the money lines suggest lower. I mean, if you guys are so certain that it will break 66m, you can make $115 for every $100 you bet. Of course, it's not as easy as it might seem to make money off of WSEX; it's usually a good indication of the actual BO.

So, 2.6?
Sin City, X2, Kill Bill Vol 2 and many others all had good WOM, but couldn't break past the 2.5-2.6 range. At best I could see a multiplier like V. I don't see it getting much more then 150m since I doubt it reaches 65m this weekend.

This is a joke right? You think it's going to do Van Helsing numbers?

DP07, you up for a bet? Heh. I remember you said it wouldn't break $130 million total and you were willing to bet on it. If you want to bet on over or under $150 million total, I'm all for it, though not for money because I'm broke.

Hmmmm, you don't need money, it doesn't matter that you are broke. It's a bet you can't lose.

I am thinking around 2.75 which would be pretty good.
Kill Bill and Sin City were very specialized films. R-rated, made for a cult audience...
X2 was hugely frontloaded, but it also had a huge opening which you don't believe M:I-3 will have. It also has a much more distinct fanbase.
M:I-3 is a fun summer fare. That is what it is. It does not have a special fanbase, it appeals to everyone. Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, only that this one will be more frontloaded because it is a sequel. But your suggested 2.5 multiplier is ridiculous.

Even if it has just a 2.5x multiplier, it'll need a $60 million opening weekend to break $150 million total. I'd say that's a lock at this point. With Poseidon getting weaker and weaker each day, the second weekend drop will be a tad bit lighter.
