Quote: Not too hard for kids, either. As a matter of fact this movie is a must see for the whole family. It's exciting, lots of action, and has what Hollywood hates...a GOD BLESS AMERICA message!
Oooo sounds like fun.

How Stick It is doing here on top of its placement on Moviefone and Yahoo Buzz (no Akeela or RV) makes me wonder if it's being underestimated (including by me).. haven't seen almost any ads, but maybe teens really want to see a sassy gymnastics movie?

Looks like the user reviews of 93 is going to be a D soon.

And if that's the case, we may have to see if some of these appear fake. I believe the projected ratio of 300+ will be accurate for that very reason.

If U93 can continue to double RV's pace the whole day (not unimaginable since U93 should go strong at night, fake reviews or not), and if we expect RV to have half of U93's ratio, then the early sign is indicating a tight race for the top spot. I'd say it's a good start so far, and actually none of the openers look like a failure.

Akeelah is impressing me the most - we could be looking at a solid double-digit OW if this keeps up. From what I hear, the WOM has been great.

I'm surprised United 93 has been able to hold a respectable grade. I thought everyone would tear it to shreds on Yahoo with "too soon" and such and it would end up in the D category, even.
PEACE, Mike.

I think we might see Akeelah outgross United 93 this weekend, IMHO. I know it doesn't sound right, but it's just a vibe I'm getting.

How sad that would be. Akeelah is predictable, saccharine Hollywood tripe.

That, unlike United 93, is something the whole family can enjoy. I could see parents wanting to take their children to Akeelah over the dim-witted RV, though the kids might object to that.

What a tragedy it would be if Akeelah and the Bee managed to outgross something like RV. I'd cry forever.
Not to mention...
Have you seen Akeelah and the Bee? Didn't think so.
You don't have to reply to this, because I'm just expecting the typical "Why do you care so much blah blah blah, I don't need to see the movie to know it's saccharine Hollywood tripe, as I'm right."

Akeelah doesn't look that bad. Ebert gave it four stars, surprisingly. I wouldn't consider it "tripe," especially without seeing the film, though.
