littered with under predictions, especially on the big films.

Brilliant!
Between you and Zing (summer preview) - this site has the best and most realistic predictions of any entertainment medium.
MI3, X3, Just My Luck, Over the Hedge and Poseidon in particular are accurate. I still think Da Vinci will go higher however in total gross. As for the rest - they all will do middling business as you predict.
I really have no idea about Poseidon. I havnt felt any buzz yet. It could do $70m total or double that - which is likely.

I think Poseidon is very underestimated.
I mean he states its lacking star power, but it has a solid cast. But he is also comparing it too much to Air Force One and The Perfect Storm and Troy, which were adult R rated thrillers. I would say this is most comparable to troy, but will still have more accessible thanks to it being PG-13 and it does look good. This is a summer popcorn disaster film. While its not as hot as Day After Tomorrow, I think it will still open easily over 55 million.

The Perfect Storm was not R-rated.

DAT had a $20,000 PTA. I don't think the interest for Poseidon is even half of DAT's, but it should still get a $12,000-$15,000 PTA just because it's a disaster flick opening in the Summer. So, to that end, it probably is being underestimated.

xiayun's prediction for Poseidon will be a lot closer than what I predicted in the Summer Preview last week. It simply does not have enough hype and great marketing to generate a $50+ million opening weekend.

The studio referred to this as their "Ace in the Hole", but I also agree the hype's just not there. If this does $45M OW, that will be considered great, IMO.
