Chumscrubber- 9/10, lived up to everything i wanted it too. amazing film way underappreciated and not noticed enough. Jamie Bell was great
Thumbsucker- 8.5-10 i liked it more the first time than the second, still a great piece but i felt like they could have done more and didn't
Requiem for a Dream- 7.5/10 - this movie no words.
Pretty Persuasion- 7/10 - okay film quite clever and evan rachel wood steals the show. a lot of insinuative oral action. with sucking noises... both male and female. interesting...
Crash- 9/10 - excellent film, second time almost as good and as powerful as the first
I Heart Huckabees- 8/10 this movie is quite intriguing even with its 4th viewing.

Saw II - A

I've watched it three times since I got it yesterday, and frankly, I can't get enough of it. Although the 'twist' isn't as brilliant as the first, it's still excellent. And this one is far more entertaining than the original. I love it.

The twist was way better than the lame twist in the lame first ;).

And Chumbscrubber isn't that good . The movie feels phony, like a poser indie flick. It just doesn't ring true at all or feel natural. It's odd and pretentious. It was kind of interesting, and I liked Jamie Bell and Camilla Bell, but overall it was just too fake. A lot of times I'd actually get frustrated with how hip and weird it was trying to be and it's laughable how odd a lot of the characters act. It's such a fake. Thumbsucker was better.

Saw 2: B- (I also liked it better than the first one). Not among the worst of horrors offerings this year. Reserve that for The Fog remake.

The problem with the Saw movies is they try to be gritty, but are just too mainstream to accomplish this. They chicken out when it comes to getting really down and dirty. I thought the ending with the kid was a big copout.

Though I was surprised by some of the nastiness of this film. The needle scene was gross.

Just saw these for the first time in 20 years: I didn't grow up on these movies. Therefore, I was not drawn completely into them the way others would be. But, I still found them to be worthy of watching even as a new viewer.

Star Wars: A-
The Empire Strikes Back: B+

Return of the Jedi: C- (I thought this movie was a giant disappointment coming off the first two films. It seemed like a watered down commodity of the first two films. It was the first movie that seemed solely like a children's movie as well. The ending I thought was mind numbingly awful. Daddy!!!!!!!! I am sorry, but those moments of acting were horrendous. Ugh... Why didn't whats his face win? The evil guy.)

Mrs. Henderson Presents

Great cast. Great Director. Great premise. So why doesn't MHP work, except for a few scenes here and there? Your guess is as good as mine. The screenplay pretty much stunk, but Stephen Frears gets his share of the blame as well. He could have at least given the musical sequences some flair, but the movie just sits there, twiddling its thumbs.

Funny throughout, but not rolling on the floor laughing like the others. Could have been better.

Stunning visuals, but a pretty mediocre screenplay.

Waking Life - C

I like probably 20% of the stuff in the movie a lot, but then was extremely bored by the rest of it. A few interesting philosophical ideas but nothing beyond the surface. Should have been a lot better. The animation style was pretty cool though.

The Life (Yo Puta) - C+

On the video cover it shows Denise Richards and Daryl Hannah and on the back it gives a basic premise of their story. However, it turned out they were in the film for like 15 minutes max, and instead the movie is really a Spanish-language documentary film about prostitutes with the Denise Richards scenes cut in randomly. The documentary portion of the film was better though.

Really funny, though as a movie it had some problems.

Serenity - B-/C+

They should get the Chinese pronunciation right. That was horrible. As a native speaker, I needed English subtitle to understand what they were saying.

Someone bought me Serenity for Christmas. Everyone here knows what I think of that "film"... I've got the receipt and all, but I'm dreading the lines at Wal-Mart for a measly 16 bucks.

Watched Walk on Water about three hours ago. Fantastic movie (Bumped In Her Shoes off my top 8).

I've heard the pronunciation is terrible. That said, I've heard it was worse on Firefly. The actors just couldn't handle it, so they have a girl come in and teach them phonetically.

You can always chock it up to pronunciations changing over the course of 500 years.

Dark Shape,

That's pretty cleaver actually. It happened to English, so I suppose it's possible. Cop out due to bad pronunciation, but makes sense from the story viewpoint.
