No sarcasm? You really liked it?

...

surprising.

Really.

I thought it did its job. It isn't insanely memorable.

Unlike most people, I tend to agree with this. Very solid acting, a great look, and a sense of suspense really kept this one going. It was a hell of a ride - the "good" type of those check your brain at the door types. I think I gave it a B, which seems fair from what I remember.

When I watched it again last night, I had just as much fun.

One thing that still bothers me about the plot is that if Jodie Foster never decided to move to the back of the planes with the empty rows, they would have never been able to get the daughter without someone noticing; especially Foster.

Yeah, I mean... it wasn't brilliant, but I would have had a fun night out at the movies with my friends had I gone to see this in a theater.

I prefered Red Eye to Flighgtplan quite a bit

Red Eye was logically flawed as well, but it never baffled me as much (in a negative way) as Flightplan did. You know why? It had a shorter running time, giving the audiences less time to rethink the plot and it was actually suspenseful throughout the entire flick (and had a great villain to boot).

Flightplan would've been so much better if it didn't have that awful, awful, awful ending.

And Foster looks like Michael Jackson in a few frames. That's distrubing.

When I found out in Red Eye that the villian's name was Jack Rippner and all he wanted to do was... well this is not a spoiler forum for that movie... but when I found out the stuff there, I was turned off almost instantly. It disolves into a puddle of goo by the time they leave the plane.

I kind of liked the whole "I'M JODIE FOSTER AND I MIGHT BE A PSYCHO" aspect to the movie.

On the contrary...

Red Eye was so cheap looking. Call me anal (boo lame), but I need a quality looking film- and Red Eye was not that. It was fun, sure, but I tend to favor the finer details when both plots are a bit ridiculous. I just couldn't go for it- the 5 dollar SFX budget, the annoying extras- it felt too silly. I like how Flightplan takes itself a bit more serious, too. It's got the edge that Red Eye doesn't have and really can't benefit on. The in your face tone to Red Eye is probably it's biggest fault, imo, because neither one of the actors seemed *that* great, unlike Jodie.

Well, it was pretty obvious that she was not a psycho all the time. If it wasn't for the ending, it would have been a very decent movie. Now it's only half-decent.

And as for Rippner...that might not even be his real name. The thing is that Red Eye is similar to Phone Booth (the latter is somewhat better). Both rather minimalistic and yet suspenseful.

Which aspect, in particular? The senseless splosion?

I don't mind happy endings so long as they aren't super silly. Flightplan was OK, but the rest of the film makes up for it.

I was so disappointed that I didn't bother writing anything about it. I gave it a D+ and the movie's legs just baffle me.

See you shouldn't have brought up Phone Booth... I hate almost every aspect about that movie.

Red Eye is great in it's first 20 minutes or so. I mean, it's REALLY good then.

Flightplan seems to "maintain altitude" (hahaha!) the entire time. I guess the ending didn't bother me that much, because...

1. There was that "OH SNAP!" moment at the end with the passengers.
2. She totally got to bitch slap the stewardess.
3. She got to blow up Sarsgaard, and sometimes people just need to blow up a little Sarsgaard.

The explosion should have, in fact, been bigger!

Okay, so what would be the letter grade (just so I know we are not arguing over it, even though we give it the same grade)?

And obviously if you don't like Phone Booth, you wouldn't like Red Eye either. Phone Booth made my Top 10 of 2003.

I dunno... B-/C+, 3 stars out of five? Slightly better than mediocre.

Movies usually have to have something "special" to go above a B grade on my non-existant-sorta scale.

Mine's B-, so yeah...

Red Eye is B+.

Everything.

The ridiculousness of Peter Sarsgaard hiding the child in some random compartment of the plane, as well as the insanely huge plot holes, made me want to scream.

Hmmm, I am siding with Libs on this one, hehe.

I wonder what her grade fr Phone Booth is, but I'd imagine it's a good one too.

And as far as I can recall Zach's grade for Flightplan is a B- as well, so...
