Seriously.
I think I might need to do something like that after Capote, but for different reasons. I saw the trailer before The Squid and the Whale tonight, and the voice just irritates me to no end. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to sit through that one.

Worse being on the west coast, who can't get anything live except for Oscar.

Honestly... that bothers me a bit about Capote as well.
I understand that he talked like that, but also understand I would have strangled the real Capote probably!

So? Do the winners next Monday have a huge impact on Oscar noms? How much do you think they have? Perhaps the Oscars also unconsciously try to distinguish themselves from the Globes and never end up picking the same nominees (full set of course) or winner?
Its airing on Martin Luther King Day. That's odd....

Hmm, it's always delayed for me every year, and this year is no different. It's 8PM EST and PST.

The publicity can never hurt, but it's a different set of voters. The Hollywood Foreign Press obviously never got the memo that Crash was back in style. The Brokeback Mountain win for Best Picture here will create lots of momentum. Crash isn't nominated, so it's got no choice but to be in a holding pattern into the guilds start having their awards and the Oscar noms are announced. The GG definitely play in certain movie's favor. Walk the Line being one of them.

Is it because they moved it to Monday?
Oh well... didn't really want to watch them anyway.

Could be, even though somehow I always thought it was delayed before as well. My memory was screwed up.

The Globes has always been delayed in the West Coast (last year, it aired against an original Desperate Housewives - I remember switching channels while seeing Teri Hatcher give her speech, and Housewives featured a scene with her, heh). Unless Andaroo has the East Coast feed of NBC. Lucky.

I'll repost mine.
Unlike the Oscars, I think the Director category is a little more murky considering Lee won director for Crouching. I think they could give it to Mr. Clooney. Also I'm never sure about Supporting Actress.

Just a thought - for some reason I think there might be an upset in one of the Comedy/Musical categories, I just don't think the Golden Globes is going to want to give Walk the Line a complete sweep. I predicted all WTL for those categories anyway because I can't figure out what category it wouldn't win and what would take its place. If they want to make sense they would award the acting and give BP to something else.

It would be awesome if The Squid and the Whale somehow won, but I don't see that happening. Maybe Pride & Prejudice will, but Walk the Line is the safest bet.

Jeff Daniels is the only one who could pull off an upset. He's in one of the best reviewed films of the year and has been nominated twice in the past without a win. He's respected among his peers and appears in both The Squid and the Whale and fellow nominee Good Night, and Good Luck. I definitely don't see him upsetting Phoenix, but he'd be the one if somebody did it.
