With only The New World left to see, this is how my top 10 breaks down:
1. King Kong
2. Munich
3. War of the Worlds
4. Sin City
5. 2046
6. Crash
7. The Chronicles of Narnia
8. Unleashed
9. Batman Begins
10 The Jacket
Much respect to Spielberg for providing two fantastic entertainments in the same year. Most directors would have trouble completing two films in the same year, let alone two films of such high quality. In the end though, it is the grand entertainment and emotional impact of King Kong that takes the top spot.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. Everyone has his/her own taste.
Loyal, see Downfall finally!

Hey, you saw "November"! So I am not the only one...
I liked it, too. Not as much as you, methinks, but definitely deserved better than a non-existant release and completely falli8ng into oblivion.

November is great. Courtney Cox is stellar in it. I knew it would be one of those "hopelessly lost forever" films when I couldn't find the DVD anywhere the day it came out. When I asked the clerk at Suncoast (my last resort) about it, their face looked something like this:

Begins actually didn't hold up that well on DVD, I thought. When I wasn't in the throngs of fanboy passion, it was still a great film, and probably would have made my top ten in any other year, but this year was too good. Same story for Sin City.

I think Stay might be the most underrated film i've ever seen in my life. I'm not sure how it fell through the cracks the way it did. It's fantastic. The acting is superb, and Marc Forster is in a real show off mood, so we're treated to many breathtaking compositions and sequences (the scene with the groups of duplicates walking around in the background and no one seeming to care is a marvel). There's lots of little touches throughout the film, too (like Sam's pants being too short and the reason for that) that just make it fun to watch repeat times. Here's a little review I wrote for it on my blog awhile back:
this is a deeply sad film that demands a lot from it's audience. if you're patient with the film, and let it's images and themes work it's way under your skin and inside your head, the final five minutes will reward you with stark clarification. if you let it, this might just be one of the most haunting films you'll see this year. there are some moments in the film that, once you known the outcome, you will look back on and be overwhelmed with sadness and despair. stay is, at it's core, a very bitter and desperate story of missed opportunities. whether that is never getting to ask the person you love to marry them, or never giving your loved ones a proper goodbye. on top of all of this, marc forster pulls out all of the stops to deliver one of the most artistically satisfying films of the year.

I'm still kind of trying to comprehend Munich. I'll probably post my thoughts about it tomorrow.
This list is probably not going to be the final one. I still need to see The Constant Gardener, and Syriana.

I pretty much agree with you all around...and I'm actually looking quite forward to watching it again on DVD (when is it out?), but I wanted to take special notice in the above. I'd kinda forgotten about that scene, but now that you mention it...I definitely agree. One of my favorite scenes of the year, certainly.
