Who Should Sing The Next Bond Song?
The last five songs were all sung by women. It's time for a man to croon about Daniel Craig.
License to Kill (Gladys Knight)
Goldeneye (Tina Turner)
Tomorrow Never Dies (Sheryl Crowe) - KD Lang sang Surrender, a better song, over the end credits.
The World is Not Enough (Shirley Manson w/ Garbage)
Die Another Day (Madonna)
I would love to see Bono take another crack at a title song, I like the Goldeneye lyrics.
Then there's Robbie Williams, but Im not sure if his voice is sullen enough for what is sure to be a depressing film.
Jarvis Cocker and Pulp would be nice.
I would love for Radiohead to do it. Maybe if they end up scoring A Scanner Darkly, they'll catch the bug.

Radiohead would be pretty cool. As would someone like Rufus Wainwright. Ooh, for that matter, imagine what Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds could bring to the table!
It'll probably end up being Coldplay.

They turned down A Scanner Darkly, but were offered it.
The next theme song needs to be male. It needs to be brassy and less-techno and intense.
No more Bono, I'm sick of him.
Williams would be a decent choice I guess.

Elvis Costello would be cool, but they'll pick someone current who they think will sell CDs and thus make more money for the film and then years later sound dated and make everyone say "WTF?" - like when Duran Duran did it.

Costello with or without the Imposters would be great. The North and Delivery Man albums were almost perfect.
Burt Bacharach could write the song, since he's so chummy with Costello

I always thought Cave was suited to sing for a Bond movie.

Shakira.
Or if it has to be male, that creepy brit who sells a lot of records, what's his name? Used to be in some boy band. He did a remake of a classic at the end of Finding Nemo, you know who I mean. He'd be right for it.

Great idea -- Bacharach knows how to do those sweeping magnificent movie songs! It's settled then.

Well considering Duran Duran influenced quite a few bands that are playing now(Even the singer from Stone Temple Pilots and the Korn singer named them their favorite bands) they aren't in the quite in the outdated category as say Sheena Easton or Gladys Knight. Not like I would put them in same cringeworthy category as Britney Spears or N Sync, they do somehow to others belong in the same cringeworthy category as maybe Coldplay which acts like a silent guilty pleasure
Anyhow back the question, I do agree that Radiohead should do the next track. I listened to one of their b-sides "manowar" and it sounded very Jame-Bondish

Actually, after listening to They Might Be Giant's "Dr. Evil" song from Austin Powers, I want them to write it, and get a good female vocalist to sing it!

There's Portishead who are the very definition of cool spy. But I think they may have broken up.
Are Stone Roses too hippy for Bond?
Blur might work, if they can stay away from the synth.

No more female vocalists. They had an interesting run.
My favourite Bond songs have all been sung by men, Live and Let Die, We Have All Time In The World, From Russia With Love.

The Earthquake Weather and Heaven Hammer remixs on Guerolito have the makings of really weird Bond songs.

hehe, I just "got" Guerolito last time I went to the "store." I haven't listened to much of it, though. I'd be interested in hearing a BeckBondSong, but really have no idea who'd make a good next and just said that cuz Beck > all...
Is there a CD compilation of the past songs around? (Beside's individual soundtracks.)

Come to think of it, The Divine Comedy would do a brilliant Bond song.

There's really no reason for them not to ask Coldplay.
There's no reason for Coldplay not to do it (aren't they going into the studio anyway?)
I know a lot of people don't like Coldplay... it's understandable, but they are popular and mid-ranged enough to be able to produce a Bond song.

There are so many Bond compilation CDs in my collection its embarassing.
You can get remixes, straight cuts, instrumentals, a search on Amazon will yield quite a few gems for you.

I'm probably one of the biggest Coldplay fans around so seeing them on board should excite me.
My problem is that everything points to a really somber, straight edge, Bond film and Coldplay are too....light.

Doves would be a good choice IMO. They are like a darker (and more artistic) Coldplay.
I like Coldplay a lot too. Despite the fact that I shouldn't.
I liked their song "How You See The World, Pt. 2" which is on the new Help disk.
Damien Rice, Doves, Blur or Gorillaz would be fun.
I'm in favor of the producers making Bond more British.
"What If" and "X&Y" is the closest thing Coldplay has to a Bond sounding song at the moment.

Gorillaz could be quite interesting...
How about a little Chris Cornell? And they should really get the Rolling Stones in to do one before they pop their clogs.
