The Hunt for Red October - B+
Not just a great submarine movie, but a great movie, period. The tension build-up is very well done, and it didn't dwell on any sentimental moment.

Devil's Rejects - B-
- Couldve been better, I also really hate how Zombie tries to get you to feel emotion for the killers, I mean I dont know what thats about.
Longest Yard - B-
- Entertaining, sometimes it drags and tries to become serious at a few points and that was a big mistake, Waterboy was better imo
Polar Express - C+
- Isnt for me, plus im sure it was way better seeing it on the big screen. Not really for anybody other then kids, doesnt have much to offer except nice visuals and a cute but flat story.

Great fun. Fantastic to see Goldie, Bette and Diane together, they have excellent chemistry and look like they are having the time of their lives.

The 40-Year Old Virgin
I didn’t find it hilariously funny, the final scene was pretty hilarious, though
Steve Carrell is fantastic in this movie!

March of the Penguins... Good. It feels a bit long at 80-minutes. Not as emotional as I thought it would be. But yeah, very good. Lots of black and white death.
Fantastic Four... Didn't like much of anything about it, Ioan Gruffudd was better than I thought, Michael Chicklis was worse than I wanted it to be. I didn't understand why his girlfriend suddenly turns into a freakjob (shows up ON THE BRIDGE) to give him is ring back and look like a bitch? Julian McMahon didn't have a lot of gravity as Dr. Doom in the second half. I did like Kerry Washington and wish that her part with Chicklis was a little bit... more. Chris Evans kind of got annoying midway through. Effects were okay... the middle part of the movie drags and the payoff isn't great either. The best thing about it is the bridge sequence which happens in the second half (beginning). Oh well.
King Kong (1933)
I love Kong. In fact, I love him more than any of the humans in the film! Rented it because I couldn't afford to buy. This is my first time seeing the very beginning. Effects work is still pretty amazing. Can't say much for the acting. I always though Driscoll was a gigantic pussy.

Dirty Harry B+
Finally saw it for the first time, a no-frills thriller (try saying that ten times fast) with a simple but engaging storyline and a great lead character.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe C+
Surprisingly stale. The actor who plays Peter is wooden 95% of the time, and Edmond's just annoying. The little girl is a really good actress though, and I actually cared about the final battle. It's funny that Aslan is the poster's main feature when he doesn't show up until 90 minutes into the movie.
I'd rate it just below the first Harry Potter film in terms of quality.

Oh man, I'm worried that I'm going to feel the same way. How was the final battle? Is there much anything exciting that happens before that? What about the opening, I had at one point heard it was all with the bombing of London and was pretty intense.

It opens with German bombers over London, but I wouldn't describe it as intense. A few bombs go off, the family bolts from the house, and inside of two minutes the kids are being sent away by train. The final battle itself is decent -- not particularly gruesome, and hurt by some spotty FX. In fact, a lot of the Visual FX in the film are terrible. I have no problem with creating animals with CGI, but the wolves look worse than their Day After Tomorrow counterparts, and Aslan the lion has such a soft image that he doesn't gel at all with the backdrop. Another pet pieve: the White Witch wears this ridiculous looking ice crown for a good portion of the movie.
I was genuinely shocked when one of the main human characters was run through with a sword, then kind of pulled out of the moment when I realized frickin' Santa Clause gave the kids a get out of jail free card -- err, "heal anything" potion.

Yeah, that's a lot closer to what I figured concerning the opening. Decent eh, so better then say King Arthur's final battle but not as good as the Fellowship skirmish at the end? And ouch for the effects, but not surprising. Something about all most all of the animals just looks... off. Like they just cut/pasted creatures from The Polar Express and threw them into the movie. I'm going to see this sure, but I'm just worried I'll be bored if Aslan doesn't show up until the last third of the movie and there's not much else action wise besides the final battle and some little wolf fight.

Hmm, I felt like writing a lot, so I posted more thoughts in a separate thread.
I feel somewhat similar to The Dark Shape, only I liked it much more as an adaptation of the source material. Aslan was the biggest disappointment.

I've never read any of the Narnia books (though I swear I must've seen an earlier adaptation, because a particular "shave him" bit is a very clear memory I have as a kid), so I don't know how it compares to the source material.
