Considering King Kong opens on Wednesday, I think it is here to stay at moviefone. It's equivalent of Narnia appearing last Friday.

Final predicts:

1. Narnia - 53.5
2. Syriana - 15.8
3. Harry Potter - 11.0
4. Walk the Line - 5.7
5. Yours, Mine, and Ours - 4.9
6. Aeon Flux - 4.8
7. Just Friends - 4.0
8. Pride & Prejudice - 3.2
9. Rent - 2.2
10. Chicken Little - 1.9

This is a bit easier week. I finally lowered my Narnia to a still solid 14,800 PTA. I haven't been feeling THAT much buzz for it, but it should still do great. Syriana I have at about 9000 PTA. I think its great limited run thus far balances out the fact that there seems to be a lack of buzz factor. Potter drops mid 40%s due to Narnia. YM&O has a decent hold. Flux drops a big 62%. Just Friends holds with a 30%-er, very good. Pride does fine. Rent has a 50%+-er, as does Chicken Little.

Final opening weekend predictions:
The Chronicles of Narnia: 66 million
Syriana: 14 million

As far as opening go, I haven't been this divided about the opening of two films at once in a loong time.

Narnia: 65m
Syriana: 20m

I could see Narnia doing anything from 45 to 70, this is a tough one to pinpoint. Syriana has had killer ads on TV, at least to me.

With Narnia owning all the big screens, it is almost impossible for Syriana to pull in a $11,000+ PTA. I mean it does not have as much hype as, say, Jarhead, I think.

My predictions for the openers:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - $59.6 million

Syriana - $14.3 million

I am probably lowballing Narnia. I could easily see it topping $70 million.

1. Narnia - 48 million
2. Syriana - 24 million
3. Harry Potter - 10 million
4. Walk the Line - 6 million
5. Yours, Mine, and Ours - 3 million
- Pride & Prejudice - 2.9 million

PTA - Syriana - 13,000
Geisha - 29,000

Going to be close for pta with three big movies.

But the king of pta will be:

Brokeback Mountain - 80,000 pta

Well, at least I agree with Dolce on BM's PTA. It might even be higher. I expect most its shows to sell out for the weekend.

Under predict Narina lately

Someone that agrees with me on Brokeback  Giesha is going to be mangled by Brokeback this wknd :shades:

Over predict Syriana lately  ;) Im aiming for a PTA between 6,000 and 8,000 went low for the derby though.

Thats one steep drop your predicting for Yours, Mine and Ours there  over 55% :|

I think we have very similar predictions (actually four of them match each other 100%) which is hopefully a good sign.

I think people are overestimating Chicken Little. When a family blockbuster opens the percentage affect tends to be greater for films that are earning less. The Pacifier held up well against Robots, but Because of Winn-Dixie didn't just as with Return to Neverland and Big Fat Liar against Ice Age. Shrek 2 surprised many people with it's hold against Harry Potter 3. Recently Wallace and Gromit was hit harder by Chicken Little then the family films that were earning more at the time. Chicken Little then held up better against HP 4 then the other (smaller) family films in release.

I guess a larger gross can allow a film to ride out the storm.

Well, it could still easily cost HP4 2m this weekend. However, I'd bet that CL will have the bigger drop of the two, even if it has the better legs of the two. ;)

Something tells me that YMO will be hit the hardest.
