Ok, so basically, while SW3 is still in stratospheric heights, other films are beginning to catch up. In particular, Spider-Man 2 is obviously going to be a formidable challenger over the next week, and could switch places back and forth for records. I think Spidey will keep its fastest to $200m record, but if so, then by a thin margin. SW3 should edge it out over the weekend, thanks to MMDWKnd Monday. After that, it really depends on the legs.
SW3 will not match Shrek 2's total; the film has 4 $20m+ days coming up, and had decent legs thereafter. $95m over 4 days is a staggering sum, and Shrek 2 is a strong competitor.
I think that, at this point, a total of $380-410m is possible. Depending on how it does during the weekend, it will stay ahead of the $370m triumvirate (ROTK/SM2/TPOTC).
On the adjusted chart front, Titanic, TPM, SM1, Jurassic Park will all have an easy time racing ahead of SW3 over the coming days and weeks. Titanic-Adj. will end up more than doubling SW3's total, while TPM-Adj. and JP-Adj. will be more than $100m ahead.
Cheers

Well, it ruined my childhood and I think it generally caused society to fall apart.:wink:
Seriously, nothing. This simply has always seems to be a frontloaded film IMO. Just as I thought with The Matrix sequels, and The Ring Two, and I'm a fanboy of both those franchises.

I think I probably said this already, but when talking about how competition will affect the legs, I mean new competition after opening weekend. That's obviously different from Spider-Man.

3-Day: $51.3 4-Day: $63.3 What? I think that might even be a bit optimistic. TPM increased about 75% on Friday, and I don't think this will do better. That's true. I've found some even lower options. I myself am prediting a $53.2 3-Day and $66.7 4-Day. It's basically just me and you who says Star Wars is going to be very frontloaded!
Well, I hear a few more agreeing somewhat now, probably thanks in part to the Monday and Tuesday drops. Still, we were the first.

Probably a cookie
BTW yesterday might have quite a good hold. It was 28th Star Wars anniversary yesterday and some of the fans might have gone to see ROTS again. Oh well we shall see. I predict 8.8 for Wed.

It'll probably drop more than 2% on Thursday. More like 5-6%.

Why such a low increase on Saturday? Clones, Phantom Menace, and The Matrix Reloaded ALL increased over 40%.

I didn't realize Reloaded did that. It really won't make a difference though, it would add $5 million to the 4-Day.

I predict around $55 million for the 3-day weekend and about $69-70 million for 4-day.
