Though small there is a glimmer of legs shown already for this movie as pointed out on BOG. If you do ROTS vs AOTC and you subtract the midnight showings ROTS Friday would be up 3% over its Thursday opening while AOTC Friday would be up 2% over its Thursday opening.

Nebs, Reuters is reporting that the film made $40m overseas in 2 days:

http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArtic ... ARS-DC.XML

So that gives it $125.5m WW in 2 days. =D>

My predictions of 14m midnight, 44m opening day, and 106m 3 day are all looking pretty good. Just slightly low.

Which baffles me, because reports said it would have a great Saturday as well.

I mean, don't get me wrong- $31m+ is a very good number, matches AOTC's, but it's still a drop.

Hmmmm :???:

Maybe a good explanation, expert...

Well, frontloadedness will go a long way to explain the drop, but first we have to see whether the film actually did drop, or if so, by millions. It's possible that perhaps the Friday number is too high, with Fox being a bit too eager (they overestimated AOTC by $6m).

We'll have to wait for more concrete data.

It doesn't make sense at all. Even The Matrix Reloaded, which was as frontloaded as blockbusters can be, increased.

But, you know, Showbizdata and BOM had different numbers for Friday, too. So, I'll wait...

Zing, Tge Matrix's $5m in Previews pale in comparison so Sith's $16.5m. There is no doubt that many more people rushed to see Sith than Reloaded.

As well, if it did decrease from Friday, then that means that Sith was indeed more frontloaded initially, as fans continued to rush out to see it.

If it's true, I'm still quite happy with it's weekend, which should be $90m+...just a bit worried about legs if this drop has anything with it.

That's the only thing I hope: good to great legs.
But somehow not all the good films seems to manage that --> Sin City, par example.

I think the actual will be around $104-107m. I think Fox just wants to claim it beat Shrek 2 for the #2 spot. They overestimated AOTC by $6m.

Monday should give the film $10.5-12m.

So, after 5 days, it will have $164.5m-$169m. =D>

If the estimate is right and then it follows AotC's drops on the weekdays it will sneak past $200m in 8 days to tie the record.

Nebs, look at that frickin average, holy crap. $29,000????

It beat The Passion's average! I'll have yet to put up all the charts and stuff, but it has one of the biggest averages of any top 12 release over the last 20 years!

I think the actual will be around $104-107m. I think Fox just wants to claim it beat Shrek 2 for the #2 spot. They overestimated AOTC by $6m.

Monday should give the film $10.5-12m.

So, after 5 days, it will have $164.5m-$169m. =D>

I hope the actuals will be above 150+ million. It would have been great if it passed 200 million within a week.

Hmmm. Spidey 2 did a 192 million week last year. A bit tough, cause Spidey had very big summer days.

Nonetheless, it already got the following records:
- Biggest Single Day
- Biggest OPening Day
- Biggest 4-Day Grosses
- Biggest 3-Day Grosses
- Biggest 5-Day Grosses (definitely, it already broke it)
- Fastest to 100 Million (tied)

Brilliant average.

Happily the b.o. comparisons with HP3 are all gone...

Sith has actually borken a few hundred records, except many of them are redundant. For example: It is Fox's biggest weekend, it is Lucas' biggest weekend, it is the fastest to $10m, $20m, $30, $40m, $50m, $60m, and so on.

A remarkable performance all around.
