Neither has $46 million in a single day. You were expecting the film to increase something like 40% over AOTC's opening?

BLEH, If the film did NOT have midnight showings then it would easily beat Shrek 2's record AND SM record. Be real ppl. Those midnight viewers would obviously have to see it during regular show times if it wasn't available.

4-Day: $143.5 What makes you think it'll have such a sharp drop on Friday? Attack of the Clones' first Friday only dropped 19% from the Thursday opening. The market hasn't changed that much since then, has it? Sure it might be a bit more frontloaded, but I don't see why it shouldn't be able to make at least a 25-30% drop. The calculation isn't that simple. ROTS had a much higher midnight total than AOTC. We have to exclude those when associating Thursday-to-Friday holds. If 46M is true, then without Thursday midnight gross, ROTS would have 29.5M, while AOTC had about 23-24M (its midnight gross was 6-7M). So AOTC increased a tiny bit on Friday. People who are willing to see it at midnight on a weekday, obviously aren't going to see it only once. The extra 17 million would've been added in eventually, but not necessarily all the first day.

But they may not have the chance to see it during regular show times due to sold out or other factors, or they could squeeze others the opportunities because there aren't enough showtimes during the day to take all the demands. A lot of people would be forced to see it on weekend. There is no way that it could break record without midnight showings. Oh, also a lot of fans saw it multiple times on Thursday and paid multiple times. ROTS is a hell of alot better the HP3 hence it will dive like a dead bird.
