Essentially Variety. Justin Kroll has verified that everything is all but official.

Matt Reeves would be a great choice IMO.

According to THR, James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has tested higher than any Marvel Studios movie in the company’s nine-year history, scoring an unprecedented 100 at a recent screening. Up until this point, the studio's top scorers were Iron Man 3 and Avengers, which both tested in the high 90s.

Good news. Though Avengers and IM3 weren't that good. Though I'm quite the fan of the latter.

So this means it will be in danger of being too broad and pleasing? Because that's what a 100% score tells me....that it pleases everyone. I'm not sure I want that. I was hoping Guardians 2 would be more like the first, though it will probably be excellent because of Stallone anyway. ;)

God I hate WB's so much right now.

Both Collider and Batman on Film have quoted sources as saying Affleck is actively negotiating to extract himself from the franchise. The writing has been on the wall for a while, I think it's just a question whether they come to an agreement.

They really can use the new Director hire to allow everyone to save face. Say that Reeves wants to focus on the character earlier in his career (with a younger actor), keep Affleck on as a producer, etc

I'm going to a screening of Hacksaw Ridge tonight with a Mel Gibson Q&A. I imagine this will come up.

Mel is untested in this type of film. It could stink. It could be brilliant. I hope he declines this offer.

Mel said it's really early days and he may not end up doing it, but he's had story meetings with "the DC people" and he's having a lot of fun coming up with ideas for it.

I'm literally shocked he's even CONSIDERING it.

Having super villains become religious would certainly be a new take on the theme.

David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) in talks to direct Shazam for New Line. Which is odd because that's coming after Black Adam, which doesn't have a director...
