 KJ's Fall/Winter 2016 Box Office Contest - Planning Thread
Hey all,
I've got 22 moves locked in to predict for the next season's contest:
Sully Blair Witch Bridget Jone's Baby Snowden The Magnificent Seven Storks Deepwater Horizon Miss Peregine's Home for Peculiar Children The Girl on the Train The Accountant Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Inferno Doctor Strange Hasksaw Ridge Trolls Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Moana Office Christmas Party Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Assassin's Creed Passengers Sing
What other movies would you all like to predict totals for? I'm sure I'm missing some big ones.

Also, do you like the following box office questions: - Which will gross more in total - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or the combination of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Moana?
- Which family film combination will gross more in total - the combination of Sing and Trolls or the combination of Moana and Storks?
- Which will gross more in total - The Magificent Seven, the combination of The Accountant and The Girl on the Train, or the combination of Deepwater Horizon, Snowden, Hacksaw Ridge, and Sully?
- Which 2 of the following films will gross closest to each other in total (in dollars) - Assassin's Creed, Doctor Strange, The Magnificent Seven, and Passengers?

The questions are fine, though I am wary of including Passengers in any question. There is still no trailer. One might expect Sony to have begun advertising its 120-million-dollar sci-fi film scheduled for release in four months. It is also embroiled in a lawsuit related to Digital Domain.

Also, let's definitely ignore Rings. I highly doubt it is coming out this October.
I voted for:
Bad Santa 2 The Birth of a Nation Boo! A Madea Halloween The Light Between Oceans Ouija: Origin of Evil Why Him? and OTHER: Fences and Patriots Day
Patriots Day seems an obvious one to me. It is the Boston-bombing drama by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) with Mark Wahlberg and John Goodman. Paramount is obviously scheduling it to emulate Lone Survivor, American Sniper, and The Revenant.
And Fences is Denzel Washington. Granted, not Denzel in Safe House/Equalizer mode (it is a race-relations drama positioned for Oscar contention), but still Denzel.

Good call - it's highly likely to movie based on that info.

Not been keeping up to date, but have picked; Light Between Oceans, Space Between Us, Birth of a Nation and Keeping up with the Joneses. David's picks of Fences and Patriots Day sound interesting, would back them too.

Agreed. Arrival is a MUST. I also think, despite not many votes, we should predict Almost Christmas. I think it will do really well. Perhaps Best Man Holiday numbers.

To prevent everyone having the same answer for "what will be the highest grossing film not predicted in the total gross section", I'm Not Ashamed must be included in the regular predictions.
Twitter I'm Not Ashamed on Sunday 8/8/16 = 570,103 (releases in October) Suicide Squad opening day = 646,724 Fault In Our Stars opening day = 556,552
It looking like a breakout early on.
