Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
Nobody is saying it had a good drop. It didn't. This thread isn't about how it's holding. This thread is about a prediction that is wrong. No different than any other wrong club. I'm not sure why you're getting so upset about it, nor do I know why you're thinking we're defending or minimizing the free fall. We're not. Just take the fucking L, man.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
To think I dare prefer it be about the discussion about why it might drop a certain amount.
When you say failure, I interpret that to mean that this club was a bad idea. "No different than any other wrong club". The idea for this club is no different than BVS's 225m+ opening club. Or A Million Ways to Die in the West 175m club. Right to wrong; win or lose.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
Right, and the BvS $225 mil club was ridiculed and died off. As will this one once you accept defeat. There are threads about BvS where we can discuss how badly it's doing. We have many other threads for it.
You're literally getting upset for no reason except you being wrong.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
Each thread has a different context. Otherwise we wouldn't have different threads. There's no better thread for comparing its drop to the biggest blockbuster drops.
Of course you would see no other reason, because you would be unaware of why I'm annoyed.

I bet when I predicted 69.5% in the 2nd weekend thread, I was thinking "Oh no, if this is even close, I will have to have a stupid fight with Chippy".

You didn't make a thread about it, so, nah.

You should. It's usually a great feat to make a bold club and succeed.

DP I am sure we most will tell they were wrong when a daring club succeeds and congratulate the one who makes the club. This was supposed to be close and look at the comments earlier from this club. publicenemy#1 wrote: Second week drop will be close to 70% but I'm out. Very frontloaded, yes, but not nearly as frontloaded as you suggest. I see a 2.15 multiplier and a 67% drop. I mean I really don't know why you are arguing so much DP07.

It's pretty much a lock to have a multiplier under 2.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
BvS is going to be, at best, the 5th highest grossing film domestically. Finding Dory, Fantastic Beats, Suicide Squad, and Independence Day all have potential to beat it too IMO, so it could sink as low as #9.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
Yeah, when it's all said and done BvS will probably be #7-10 of the year domestically. A multiplier like Watchmen is just awful. The media, RT and WoM was just the perfect storm for the worst case scenario in terms of legs.

At least they got the release date right(or everyone cleared knowingly). In the summer it would have died a horrible death.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
Eh, i think in the summer it would've gone above a 2.0 multiplier. Had this opened in July I think it would've done better, nothing real big is opening there but then they'd have to push Suicide Squad.

Maybe nothing really big, but it's far from the wasteland it had on 2nd and 3rd weekend. Although, summer weekdays might have helped.

MikeQ. wrote: Everyone knew the film would drop in the mid-to-high 60% range due to poor WOM. Predicting a 70+% drop was incorrect, period. It was great that you put yourself out there and you could have been right in foretelling a rare 70+% second weekend drop. But you weren't. I don't know what this discussion is all about!
As box office nerds, we try to make specific calls and see if we'll be right based on our intuition and expertise, as anyone can estimate something - e.g. Variety who put out estimated ranges as predictions all the time, as if those ill-defined predictions actually provide us with any insight from what we already know.
I don't mean to be harsh, but I just don't get it. You were wrong, no big deal, let's move on, heh.
Peace, Mike This. Wrong is wrong. We have all been there.

Re: BVS: -70% and Sub 2.0 mult club
I appreciate that coming from the person who called me insane after saying BVS's 2nd Friday was overestimated at 18.5m.
I just don't give a fuck anymore about your status quo, your expectations, your feelings about what is normal. When I don't respect that and I predict or say something that upsets that, it pisses some of you off.

Mike Q. is one of the most reasonable people to ever post here and even he called you out. That should give you some food for thought.

Dr. Lecter wrote: This. Wrong is wrong. We have all been there. Isn't there a spectrum of wrongness though? Surely those that didn't join were probably thinking less than a 68% drop and would end up being more wrong than us. Also the second part of the club is a success, so the inners and the outers are at best equally wrong here.
