I don't think it matters either way.

only way I dont see him winning is if there is a all-time great performance that can't be ignored or if everyone just rallies together and decides enough is enough and gives Leo his god damn Oscar already. I just don't see him winning he isn't Tom Hanks who was the last one to do it. I think Fassabender or Leo wins.

 Re: Best Actor: 2015
I think Depp is actually the current front runner and has a great chance to win, given Black Mass is as good as it looks. He's been nominated three times and not won, so he is pretty due just like Leo.
I also don't think this will be Leo's year either. Something about The Revenant just does not feel like it will win acting Oscars.
Fassbender may be like Hanks in 2013 with support for his two roles divided, so he might miss a nomination, or he could win
If anyone is ever going to win consecutive Oscars again, though, this is totally the role for Redmayne.

Eh, I think Redmayne won't win simply because they won't give him his second Oscar.
It seems similar to 2001 when, by all accounts, Russell Crowe was a favorite and had the perfect role in the perfect Oscar movie (A Beautiful Mind), but he simply wasn't going to win two back-to-back.

Depp ain't going to win because he comes with more baggage than one good performance can shake off. But a nomination is good enough at this stage of his career.

 Re: Best Actor: 2015
Depp has good-to-great reviews right now. I would say he's a definite contender for a nomination, but not the win. My predictions right now:
1. Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl 2. Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant 3. Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs 4. Michael Caine, Youth 5. Tom Hiddleston, I Saw The Light
Also likely: 6. Don Cheadle, Miles Ahead 7. Johnny Depp, Black Mass 8. Abraham Attah, Beasts of No Nation 9. Ian McKellen, Mr. Holmes 10. Bryan Cranston, Trumbo 11. Tom Hanks, Bridge of Spies 12. Géza Röhrig, Son of Saul (foreign actor nominations are hard to get, but with the right push and critics awards this could happen)

I'm shocked to see Leo so high on everyone's lists. His role in The Revenant does not seem like a meaty Oscar winning one at all.

 Re: Best Actor: 2015
He's arguably the most popular (and overdue) actor in Hollywood in a physically challenging role in a film by the director whose film just won Best Picture and Director last year. I think a nomination is almost certain. Granted, I don't think he's going to win right now, but I wouldn't bet against it either.

I agree with Lectar Redmayne won't win. They aren't going to give him two straight Oscars.

 Re: Best Actor: 2015
If DiCaprio is nominated he will win. Guarantee it.
They aren't going to give it to Redmayne back to back. Is there any black actor to bring out the guilt vote? I don't think there is. Fassbender is respected but he'll just have to be happy with a nomination if it comes. Depp should just be happy to be nominated after turning out so many clunkers. Michael Caine has already won two Oscars.

Because DiCaprio is long overdue. No more Peter O'Toole's.

 Re: Best Actor: 2015
If Black Mass does break out big this weekend, it would guarantee Depp a nomination, IMO. And if Fassbender disappoints, I could see him winning.
I currently see
1. Fassbender 2. Depp 3. Redmayne 4. DiCaprio
