 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
(500) Days of Summer has a B.S. ending, but is otherwise a very, very good film. And it stands out among romantic comedies for having so much interest in and sympathy for the male perspective. The split-screen sequence comparing his expectation for and dream of the evening versus the eventual mediocre reality of it remains inspired and wrenching.
Like Crazy is a superior film in general, though.

 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
The Impossible would be a contender for some Razzies IF the Razzies wanted to be taken seriously. The script is pretty terrible but people don't care because it's a serious "awards" film released at the right time and the other elements jade peoples views.

They are both amazing, I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
I always felt that the "Worst" awards should be given to films that have high achievements but fail, not crappy children's fair or obvious B movies that aren't trying to be good.
I mean, come on, the guy who made Battleship wasn't trying to make a crappy film. But I doubt the people who made That's My Boy even cared.

Next year, KJ should host its own Razzies.

But I doubt the people who made That's My Boy even cared. Though the results were undeniably disappointing, I disagree about the intentions of the makers of That's My Boy... Bradley Witherberry wrote: Major Freakin' Disappointment, reporting for duty SIR!!! That's My Boy was only sporadically good, and sadly the good part were those that closest resembled what David wrote earlier today: Bradley Witherberry wrote: David wrote: [Sandler] should be careful with his next few projects. Try to recapture the "magic" of films such as Big Daddy... Huh?!? Big Daddy was easily his worst movie. Yep - - this is another father-son bromance. Unfortunately, the gross out set pieces were so old and tired that they had to drink Geritol to give them the appearance of vitality. Worst of all, That's My Boy unfortunately fits David's other well-timed thread from today: Most precipitous declines in directorial quality?The director of this limp effort is none other than Sean Anders. Yes, his previous movie was the masterpiece Sex Drive. Perhaps you think I'm exaggerating? Well then read the raves of KJ for the comedy triumph known as Sex Drive!!!!! That's My Boy is (gasp!) mediocre. 3 out of 5. {Note: I can't say I didn't dig that hot female cameo appearance towards the end - - SS I'll always love you!}

 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
There's nothing lame about Rhianna and Kristen Stewart winning worst actresses of 2012. I'm glad it's been noted that they were terrible.

Chippy wrote: They always win. Because the Razzies are lame. This. The movie sucked but c'mon, that's not why it "won." It won because it was popular and targeted a demographic that people make fun of. It's stupid.

Fun Fact via Wikipedia: Quote: "Stanley Kubrick's The Shining was nominated for a pair of Razzie Awards, including Worst Director and Worst Actress (Duvall), in the very first year that award was given."

 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
So, what are the easy targets this year, deserved or not? I figure:
After Earth Diana Grown Ups 2 The Hangover Part III Jack the Giant Slayer The Lone Ranger The Purge R.I.P.D. White House Down The Host? Kick-Ass 2?
And maybe a dig at The Last Stand, Bullet to the Head, and/or Escape Plan to recognize Arnold and Sly's diminished domestic draw.

Yes, I was sure of After Earth. The director, the star, the father-son (on screen couple award), the story, the box office performance...I mean, everything is set up for it to be given almost every award.

 Re: Razzies 2012 - Nominations
A Good Day to Die Hard deserves a slap on the wrist, in my opinion.
The Lone Ranger's nominations, which I am almost certain will happen, will be grotesquely undeserved.

On the flipside, it doesn't deserve any Oscars either. Movies like After Earth, White House Down, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and even Elysium deserve all the Razzies.

After Earth will clean up.
Sandler's already gotten his share of Razzies so they might be easier on him...
