Heh, first everyone was predicting high on TMB because this wasn't one of his more "out-there" comedies. Now everyone is writing off its awful numbers because it IS one of his "out-there" comedies.

Welp. No getting around it. Rather unimpressive for both new films.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Very troubling for the summer.
Literally every comedy has disappointed since 21 Jump Street other than Think Like A Man.
Other than Marigold and Avengers, there have been no overperformances from 14 films so far this summer that have gone wide.
9 out of 14 outright disappointments/subpar performances.
Probably 3 that have met expectations: Madagascar, MIB3, Snow White. Though arguably, some of these could be put in the underperforming category (domestic) as well based on budgets.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Still between the Top 3 films of the summer we are possibly looking at $1.5B so that certainly is pretty damn good.

It's premise is actually very marketable, it just looked and was shit. Little Nicky cost 85 million on 2000. It was Sandler's most expensive film to date, following 3 huge hits for Sandler (still his biggest quality and BO wise sky rocketing him to the A-list), and to this day, only one Sandler film has ever cost more to make including Click and other high concept films. And Zohan only cost 90 million. 85 million in 2000 is almost 160 million today. And it's gross is would barely be 65 million. TMB was R rated, looked terrible, came after conceivably Sandler's worst film to date.

I definitely agree with the two posters above. It's a realy underrated and quite funny movie, unlike Sandler "comedies" The Waterboy and the entirely unfunny Big Daddy. This one wasn't absolutely hilarious, but it had a fair share of good jokes and very nice cameo appearance. Take Tarantino's hilarious appearance as the blind priest for once. Or the hilarious and ridiculous opening of the movie. Or Hitler and the pineapple...
Certainly, the movie is as dumb as it gets, but that is exactly what makes it so funny. It's so stupid, so over-the-top and at the same time (in a silly way) imaginative that I can't help, but enjoy it. The cast is a blast with Rodney Dangerfield and Harvey Keitel being pretty much the highlights, but in contrast to most of his movies I didn't mind Aam Sandler here either. His appearance as the utterly idiotic Nicky is one of his funniest I have seen to date. I don't know why it was almmed so much by critics and sank at the box-office, but I for one found to be an enjoyable comedy with a plot stupid, but still interesting enough to follow. It's actually borderline B+ and ties 50 First Dates as my favorite Sandler movie. Shack wrote: B+
Underrated, I don't think it deserved to bomb and I don't think it should be considered his worst. The movie was plenty funny and in my mind he gave a good comedic character performance as Nicky. Its trademark Sandler doing his usual thing and being funny to his capacity. I like it.

Even if they did that sounds way too high. Sandler of the 21st century: 1. Punch-Drunk 2. Zohan 3. Funny People 4. Little Nicky

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
They adjust sometimes even higher. Minimum wage goes up, as does minimum prices for Director's, average star salaries, writers, and cgi costs more than realistic effects. Sandler's price tag himself has doubled/ tripled since Little Nicky. Then cost of food, gas, makeup, etc you're looking at least a 50% increase just in those aspects from 12 years ago. I remember in the early 90s John Carpenter was talking about Escape from New York, and how it cost 6 million. He said that same film today, would at least cost 50 million. Escape from LA came in the mid 90s and cost about 55 million (It's virtually a remake of the early film)
