The opening day stays, it's only 20% above TA's, the potential beyond that lies in the quality of the film, I think Marvel will once again deliver, at this point they have only made one mediocre film (IM2). I give the film the benefit of the doubt with the sat and sun holds.

3D prices have not dropped, they have increased since Avatar. You are talking about average ticket prices, which is far from the same.

My understanding of BOM's inflation adjustment model is the utilize all shares trackable (kids tickets sold, 3D tickets, etc) and adjust the prices like so. The stated reason all the big 3D films have grow far less than due to inflation than the 2D film released around the same time is that 3D ticket prices are not what they used to be. I know it cost $14 to see Avatr in 3d and JP3 was only $12.50 in 3D. Last year, Avengers was $13 something.
