Yes, Michael, everyone else added Algren to ignore, so you do the "smart thing" and keep acknowledging him. Good job.

All I have to say is, maybe the next time I try to discourage crude behavior, it might be thought of as a bad idea to say "it's no big deal". :-$

OK, to all of the guys above, let's get real.

For example, If you say that the most attractive thing is intelligence, then does that mean if you are a guy and you meet a man who is just super intelligent, are you going to fall for him?

If not, then doesn't there have to be something up there about the female body.

My above answer really should be #2 as I came to this #1 answer last night at the bar.

What attracts me the most - one of the opposites that I am. I love the softness of a girl's body. That is just something that is just incredible to the touch.

Not even the unbelievable feeling areas like the .............. Just a woman's back or even holding her hand, to me, it is electric to the touch.

Seems that very few are being honest so far.

Goldie, excluding our sexual orientation in the answer was pretty much understood.

thread hijackers

I said i think women are too sex and the city orientated these days.
Ripper strongly disagreed and told me s/he hates me
Maverikk stood up for femininty and slammed me as some sort of she-hater
I cried repeatedly.
Dolce said something intelligent about stuff
Algren said he likes "retarded" chicks
Everyone Else flipped out

Thats the summary.

Please try and get your facts about me straight. Finding your opinion idiotic does not mean I hate you. I might nto like you but hate is a very strong emotion, and not something I feel on whim. You say I have a superiority complex, when you suggest your important enough to me hate. Niether you nor your opinion matter that much.

Secondly, your summary of your comments is far more insightful then your actual comments on women...the women on Sex and City were not shallow, nor did they all share the same opinion on how to approach relationships with men. If your summary is what you meant, you did not convey it well.

So youve told me repeatedly throughout this thread. Infact in every post youve made youve made sure no one could possibly constrew anything your saying as even mildly reasonable and making sure the whole of the internet knows how much my opinon dosen't matter. I suppose yours does of course though.

i agree on the deletions of Algrens posts - he knew he would push peoples buttons by using that kind of stuff and he did.

That was a problem I had with your post. You knew, and even prefaced your post, that you would be pushing buttons, yet you continued. I also think your little summary is kinda sad. Do you really think you are the poor little innocent, and those who opposed you are the bad guys? Dolce said some intelligent things, because she didn't oppose you, but Ripper "hates you" and I called you a "she-hater".

Are we seeing the problem yet?

Maverikk, under advice im going to not pursue an argument with you or Ripper any further because its clearly pointless.
Some people don't like to let arguments slide i guess.

But the fact that both of you are more stubborn than me means this conversation wont end unless i nip it in the bud right now.

Having an opinion does not require other people to value it. Nothing prevents you from finding my opinion idiotic, on other occasions you've said you thought things I said didn't make sense. I have the right to judge an opinion and deem valid or invalid as I see fit. It is part of life. No one values the statements of every person the same.

I keep reminding you that your opinion does not matter to me, because you cannot seem to get the point. I do not hate you, nor am I saying your opinion does not matter to the bloody cosmos. I am not the offical spokesperson of the universe. I am saying I personally don't place much stock anything you say. Just because I think you came across as an idiot in this thread, so what. You said something that you expected to get a certain reaction, what did you expect? Should I give you a gold star instead?

If my point was clear the first time, I would feel the need to repeat it. Apparently I haven't been clear enough in expressing myself.

For someone who claims I am the drama queen, you have called me an asshole, stubborn, etc. and injected all sorts of emotions on me which I do not have.

Continue with the name calling and the baseless accusations, that will make my opinion of improve by leaps and bounds.

Yep, just show your lack of maturity once again and then end it. You have continued to make comments, not me, so save the bullshit. If you didn't make you comment in your little summary, I wouldn't have anything to say, would I? Didn't think so...

Looks are what first attract me, but afterwards she has to be smart. And I'm not saying really smart, but not dumb like the typical cheerleader is (On TV anyway). It's nice to have an intelligent conversation every now and then, not just sex.

Good looks? An ability to work with whatever the situation of the first meeting is with finesse and humor? Not to be the shallow one here, but we're talking initial attraction right? In that case I agree with everything already mentioned, and nothing kills more than being bored by the words and thoughts that escape the person you would like to talk to everyday.

BUt for first meeting, its pretty tough to establish their knowledge of topics. I find the easiest way to tell if they are "smart' when first meeting is if they manage to make casual chit-chat interesting. I've been to places where the way to start talking is "About a song that just came on the juke box, or what the drink or the house is, or what the homework assignment was." In those cases someone truly attractive actually engages you on that in one way or another. Usually through cynicism with a touch of sincerity, but hey, it shows a good mind. I genuinely appreciate someone who can take the flimsy piece of straw I provide them with an excuse to talk and manage to spin it into gold.

Doesn't hurt if they have an aura that you can get into. I can't say I'm attracted to this color hair or this type of shoe, but when I see someone and can just sense how they carry themselves and their personality, that great. Its often misleading when they turn out to be idiots down the road, but for a first feel, there's nothing like the way they are standing. Eh, having trouble explaining myself.

I agree.

Having a great conversation with a fat slob with a moustache who smokes and farts and drools won't do it for me.

I mean, looks are not the most important thing, but they are a thing. Looks without intelligence does not turn me on at all; intelligence without looks doesn't do it either. You need a bit of both....

So, you're saying you'll never date rusty?

Anyhow, you guys stole the good answers. Essentially looks get the phone ringing, but if there's nothing beyond that the connection won't last long. And, for the record I'm attracted to fat women that smoke and fart. I'm impartial to the moustache and drooling.

I don't think I could relate and be attraacted to someone whom I really can't comprehend. There's the intelligence, the humor, everything, but if I don't fundamentally at least kind of relate to their larger vision of life (its not going to be a perfect match of course, just an understanding I can work with and vice-versa) than I think eventually the spark would be gone. We wouldn't be able to really contribute to eachother's lives in a very primary and fundamnetal way if we don't understand eachother, so would grow apart, maybe even lead to alienation.

Interesting. The only problem I see with that, is that people change. If you pick somebody who is a good match fundamentally now, he could change his perspective through various circumstances, and you're out of luck. Nothing ever stays the same, which is both a sad truth and a hopeful outlook.

Personally, I disagree with your comments about change.

I have seen / been in lots of relationships and no matter whether you are the same or different - both can work or not work - depending on how much you put into making it work.

Nothing is going to be perfect as everything has ups and downs. So you have to work at it.

As Ripper doesn't read me posts, I can't ask her this but this seems very easy to understand - as per her comments in the site.

Lets see what else I can find.

Remember, every relationship has ups and downs so you have to work at them.

Indeed. In many ways, sometimes, your goals being pretty much the same may not also work out. Its something that helped me get over a 3 year long crush though and i wondered why it took me so long to realize. While my gurl and i are sooo different and have such different goals, we not just survive but cling to each other cause of our mutual respect and acceptance of the other's lifestyle, choices and future prospects. Its tough but when a common ground is found that helps through with getting to 2 different goals, it becomes doable : )
