5-Day
Rise of the Guardians - $45 million Life of Pi - $17 million Red Dawn - $18 million
I think Red Dawn will surprise with its demo (young males) being undertracked. But Life of Pi will outlive it in total gross. Potential audiences just need more time to warm up to Pi, that's all.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
Guardians will start slow for a DW film (maybe 35m 5-day) but should have nice legs. Red Dawn probably won't do much. Bond and Twilight will dominate. No idea how Life of Pi will do but Fox isn't rolling it out like Hugo so tracking must be pretty good.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
I also don't have much confidence in Red Dawn. The advertising isn't "sharp." I know action films such as Hitman and Ninja Assassin did well over this five-day frame in the past (before vanishing come December), but they were stylish and violent and, in the case of Hitman at least, based on a popular video game. This feels corny, safe, and square, too much so to distract its audience from Skyfall or even male oriented dramas such as Flight and Lincoln (not to mention football on television).
And I don't believe Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson will help too much. I am not sure how recognizable the former is to audiences outside of Thor, and Hutcherson is barely in the advertising. He clearly has a very supporting part.
It reminds me of Abduction last year.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
Red Dawn just needs to emphasize Josh Peck more so you know they can get the "Drake & Josh" crowd

Precisely. The fact that Nick is re-airing reruns makes me kind of happy so I can watch it every now and then.

It reminds me of Abduction last year. Red Dawn is a bit different from those straight action movies. It takes on a bigger scope. It tries to capture the end-of-world paranoia and fight-for-freedom patriotism. These emotional angles allow it to play broader.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
They're going the patriotic root with the advertising which will appeal to mainstream "we'll put a boot in their ass" moviegoers, I think. Some of the same who made Act of Valor a hit. Though this doesn't have the "Real Navy SEALs" hook. I could see Red Dawn doing about 40 Million total.

If there is any justice in this work Red Dawn will bomb. It looks atrocious.

I think it seems entertaining enough for a Blu-ray rental. I won't see it theatrically though.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
That doesn't mean nobody else will see it . They should definitely add a good chunk of theaters for Lincoln next weekend. Will be a top choice among moviegoers over Thanksgiving. I never thought it would be THIS huge.

Yes, Lincoln, Silver Ling, Flight and offcourse Skyfall can really perform well beyond Thanksgiving and especially during the two weekends before The Hobbit comes out.

 Re: November 21-25 Predictions
I agree Red Dawn looks god awful and DTV stuff rather than big movie. The trailers are hilarious and as David pointed Korea....seriously? (Good luck convincing audience to spend their money)
