There hasn't been much going on on the Opening Weekend Charts, but the new Kamen Rider should change that this weekend.

Wow Black Swan is releasing so very late. I really pity the people of Japan to have to wait so long for this masterpiece....Corpse any idea how this can do in Japan?

I put some asterisks next to certain films, with projected ranges below the scheduling.

Pretty sure Black Swan will gross a minimum of 1 billion yen, and while I think it has an outside shot at 2 billion, it's a difficult milestone. Basically, I think it could do as much as $20 million or so.

It helps that Fox is the distributer because they're very generous with screen counts.

Weekend Decreases/Increases over Last Weekend from the Usual Locations:

SP: The Motion Picture - Revolution: -1.3%

Again, these updates haven't been too accurate since the earthquake due to limited location comparisons, so the percentage decreases and increases are likely a bit off again (the actual increases and decreases have been better than the data has provided the past couple weeks).

The data has been good when showing how the films are performing, though, like Tangled is going to increase again this weekend. And SP: The Motion Picture 2 will have a single digit drop again or possibly an increase, aiming for a 4th Week at #1 if Kamen Rider grossed a solid amount of Friday to deflate it's weekend gross.

No update on Kamen Rider or High School Debut yet.

Overall, it appears to be a third consecutive strong weekend with minimal decreases, and some increases, at the Box Office.

Great for Tangled and Narnia. Surprised that TKS and TT will decrease or may just stay flat.

Awesome for SP as well. Don't know why but the movie is not doing well here in Singapore.

All the films likely added more screens again this weekend (no film has lost any post-quake), explaining why everything has been increasing since the earthquake or seeing single digit drops.

Did the second SP film already make it to Singapore? The first one opened last October in Japan. The two films look to combine for close to 7 billion yen ($85 million).

Oops my bad the movie that opened was Space Battleship Yamato. SP trailers are out but it is yet to come out here.

The data, once again, from the Usual Locations wasn't accurate at all this this weekend. This time being the complete reverse O_o. No increases this weekend, but still great holds. Many Cinemas that were closed are now open, so the Box Office is beginning to balance itself out again. Everything, for the most part, will be back to normal before Golden Week at the end of the month I would say.

And what a spectacular opening for the 40th Anniversary Kamen Rider film.

Despite a deflated 2-day due to opening on Friday, it managed to beat the opening weekends of the Kamen Rider film that opened in December, all four released in 2010, and I'll have to go back and check for previous years.

It also delivers the 6th biggest opening weekend (5th in admissions) of 2011. I don't know the screen count, but if it's comparable to the last films, or less given the circumstances, it's psa will be near or over $20,000 which would be best all the wide openers this year so far.

Let's Go Kamen Riders and High School Debut opened early on Friday, so whatever they made that day isn't included in the weekend gross above. I wonder if Kamen Rider managed to clear 500 million yen over the 3-day.

My bad, the reported grosses above for Kamen Riders and High School Debut are indeed for their first three days in release.

I'll update them, and the updated admissions and totals for some of the holdovers tonight.

Transformers still don't get why the Japanese are not liking the movies. Its grosses are well below par. When you jump to neighboring Asian countries like China and Korea, Transformers are huge.

I'll continue to post the weekend estimates, weekend actuals, and chart updates in this thread weekly.

A lot of movement, and some big delayed grosses being accumulated by the March releases, in the Top 10 Grossing Films of 2011 this week.

Nothing new on the Opening Weekend Charts, but with Detective Conan (they tend to open around 500 million yen ($6 million) opening this weekend and Gantz Part 2 opening in two weeks (Gantz Part 1 is currently the second biggest opener of 2011, itself), those charts will soon change.

X-Men First Class will open on 6/11, and Thor on 7/2. You can see the Summer Release Schedule on this page above.

Saturday Data (when compared to last week's No.1 film, Let's Go Kamen Riders second weekend of 179 million yen)

Detective Conan: 15 Minutes of Silence (305.1%)
Crayon Shin-chan (100.3%)
Gulliver's Travels (90.6%)

If accurate (the data has been unbalance since the earthquake),

-Detective Conan 15 should have little trouble breaking 500 million yen ($6 million) this weekend to deliver the 4th biggest opening of the year (3rd if it tops 528 million yen, 305.1% exact would give it 540 million yen). This opening would be right in line with the most recent films in the franchise, both of them going on to gross over 3 billion yen ($35-40 million).

-Crayon Shin-chan 19 may do a little less than the 179 million yen due to cheaper tickets, so probably 150-175 million (about $2 million) for it this weekend.

-Gulliver's Travels will likely make up being behind by almost 10% with the help of 3D, and will be close to Crayon Shin-chan.

-Sucker Punch... well, expected bomb. 50-75 million yen (under $1 million, perhaps $750,000).

First day attendance for Detective Conan: 15 Minutes of Silence was reported to be 11% greater than last year's Detective Conan: Lost Ship in the Sky.

Lost Ship in the Sky opened to 471,527 admissions; 561,985,178 yen ($6,103,158) for the 2-Day Weekend (Biggest Weekend Ever) last year against Alice in Wonderland and Nodame Cantabile Part 2.

Hopefully Sunday remains strong for 15 Minutes of Silence to make it the first film to break the 500,000 admissions milestone in just 2 days (franchise record, too) this calender year (Harry Potter opened with over 500,000 admissions this Box Office Year, but no film has for the Calendar Year yet).

Doraemon and Narnia both look to suffer the most among the holdovers this weekend, falling out of the Top 10 at the biggest national chain. Doraemon always falls hard each year when Detective Conan and Crayon Shin-chan open, so not big surprise there.

As for Narnia, most likely 3D screen loss is the reason for its drop.

Very impressive for Detective Conan. Falls a little short of the franchise record, but still delivers one of the best openings of the year.

Detective Conan's weekend estimate has been raised to 555,151,000 yen ($6.8 million).

It missed the franchise record by only 17,909 admissions; and approx. 68,340,178 yen. The film opened on 332 screens, which was 20 less than last year's film. That may have been the deciding factor.

However, thanks to the exchange rate, it set an opening record in USD for the franchise. The psa should also be over $20,000, the highest for a wide release this year.
