The marketplace has been devoid of a solid PG-13 horror film for some time, and despite a creepy, astmospheric trailer and generally good reviews, the rest of the signs are pretty weak for it. Anyone here looking forward to seeing it? They are pushing the whole Saw/PA thing pretty hard, but I'm not convinced it's working. A friend of mine and I are pretty excited for it. I wasn't excited until the surprisingly good reviews came in though. Now I'll definitely see it theatrically.

Tuesday's Twitter activity: http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/twi ... -big-gainsInsidious shouldn't do any less than 10 Million, so anyone predicting under might want to change their predictions .

Sooner or later one will disappoint. Will it be Source Code? Probably not. I'm not expecting much from Hanna, though they've certainly done a commendable job advertising it. Maybe it could surprise. After Hanna though it looks like it will be quite a while before there's another wide release aimed at mature adults.

I'm also impressed by the reviews for INSIDIOUS. It's currently at 72% with 21 Fresh and just 8 Rotten. Very good for a horror movie.
Insidious is a haunted-house movie that has some of the most shivery and indelible images I've seen in any horror film in decades. - Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Doesn't Source Code have lots of teen appeal, too? Certainly more than The Lincoln Lawyer or even Limitless.

 Re: April 1-3 Predictions
I wouldn't say it has a lot of teen appeal. More than Lincoln Lawyer for sure, but I think teen appeal may have been more for Limitless. At least the same, IMO.

I disagree. Source Code is a sci-fi film with action sequences, which will draw in more teens than Bradley Cooper vs. Bob De Niro.

I agree, the ads have made it look tense and emphasized the possibility of some action sequences. That's more appealing to the teen action than any concept or aspect of limitless. Although I agree with rt that Insidous will be picking up most of the teens this weekend.

 Re: April 1-3 Predictions
Source Code's BOM poll is really good. 25.8% OW is really solid for a film like this. Limitless had 12.2% OW, Unstoppable had 19.4%, Deja Vu had 18.0%. Strong advertising for this and awesome reviews for this, too. It might be a breakout.

 Re: April 1-3 Predictions
Yeah I'm thinking Source is the most likely to beat MTC this week. The concept seems like it'd be about as accepted as Adjustment Bureau, even if it skews younger, and the top choice for the weekend is very high against a lot of similar-demo movies.

The PG-13 rating will help the latter, though.

Source Code seems comparable to Limitless in terms of the crowds it draws and just both being generic-ish thrillers.

 Re: April 1-3 Predictions
From boxoffice - As of 4 p.m. PT, Fandango.com is reporting that HOP is responsible for a very promising 23 percent of daily sales.
I am honestly suprised Hop is doing that well in advance sales considering it doesn't have an etablished fanbase or isn't a major blockbuster. I wonder how many other family flicks have done this strongly this early out with no huge followings because I sense a breakout ?

The fact it's an action/sci-fi type deal, from the director of Moon, gives it a BOM advantage.

I agree Jones is a little known on internet film communities which will skew the poll slightly but not nearly to the extent Fincher would. I still agree with Zingy that Limitless is a far better comparison than zodiac for SC.

Source Code now at 93% with 58 total reviews. Can it stay above 90%?
