Post Re: February 11-13 predictions
My theater had Sanctum only in 3D. Though another theater not far from me that doesn't have a 3D screen had it in 2D. I personally wouldn't even go see it in theaters if my theater only had it in 2D. I'd feel cheated knowing that it was made as a 3D movie.

I thought the numbers from RS are going to be better for GAJ but the difference between the two tracking systems is quite big. I don't see that normal rule/probability working this weekend for Gnomeo.

Gnomeo should land between the two numbers, though kids are the most unsatisfied customers last couple of months where only Tangled is a certified quality movie. They are being treated with stale movies. If the movie turns out to be decent it could see great legs. OW is still a long shot for 20m even with open market and tracking numbers.

MTC is very rarely double or more than RS. The usual rule for MTC>RS is that it goes >MTC, but look at what happened the last times MTC was double or so RS:

Title, RS, MTC, Actual

Avatar: Special Edition, 3, 6, 4.0
Youth in Revolt, 5, 10, 6.9
Love Happens, 5, 10, 8.1
The Time Traveler's Wife, 15, 30, 18.6
Easy A, 13, 25, 17.7
Hereafter, 8, 15, 12.0

The rule not only failed in every case but RS was actually closer in 4 of 6!

None of them were kid movies though.

Didn't DM MTC double RS? 35 and high teens? It went to 55m

Don't think it'll happen with Gnomeo though.

RS on DM ended at low 20's, but yeah similar thing.

It would be a shock if Tromeo, er, Gnomeo, hit 20.

Their Facebook page references the movie, though.

They just want to upset lots all the kids in your area. :P

My friend and I have to take her daughter and a friend and we're going to see something else in the meantime. We have to go to a different theater now and they don't have it in 3D :P.

I'm so disappointed. My theater still isn't getting BLUE VALENTINE. I'm beginning to think it won't open here at all. If it doesn't by Oscar weekend it won't be for sure. My theater isn't even getting any other Oscar movies this weekend. They never got 127 HOURS or RABBIT HOLE.

This would have been a good weekend for Blue Valentine to get a 127 Hours style semi-wide push. I bet it could hit 3 million in 900 theaters.

It would have been a good weekend for it. The best possible opportunity they could have but it doesn't appear they're going to try. Total BS. Why don't they spend some KING'S SPEECH money and give it an advertising push this week and expand it this weekend. As of now they're wasting any momentum it had.

I really wish I knew what Weinstein's release plans were for this weekend and the following.

I wonder if Weinstein is going to go ahead and expand SPEECH this weekend to over 3,000 theaters like they'd planned.

I meant it for films like Sanctum, which you can't really argue. If you're not given the option to see it in 2D, the price is your determining factor and whilst they might have wanted to see it for the 2D price, the price hike is a deterrent for a movie that looks generic.

Do we know people had no 2D option?

YES!

For the last god damn time, many people's closest theaters DO NOT show a film in both 2D/3D. At the two closest theaters around me, Santcum was ONLY playing in 3D.

And despite your crazy thinking, it IS a big deal to travel 10-15min (one-way) more than usual to a farther theater.

13 3D showings
4 2D showings

that's in anchorage, I can tell you had i wanted to see the film it would have been in 3D.

As of 11:00am ET today, Bieber makes up 71% of ticket sales on Fandango...Gnome second with 7%, Just Go With It at 5%.

Not it matters at all, but Never Say Never is getting pretty good reviews. Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and EW all very much liked it.

Big Daddy's opening adjusts to about 67m. That is crazy.

I never realized Grown Ups and Big Daddy had virtually identical runs.

I would (not really), but the single showing around here is actually sold out.

If my crowd tonight is any indication, Just Go With It will be a $150M+ grosser.

Never Say Never's buzz score is 21, which isn't nearly as high as the Hannah Montana Concert movie was when it opened. In addition, the fact that Just Go With It is posting a buzz score of 8 may suggest a typical Sandler opening around $40m. A differential of 13 is not what I expected for a pop star who's supposed to be an Internet sensation.

Never say Never did very well hear last night for Midnights. I must say that critics are right. This is a very well put together film.

This has nothing to do with the Russian take on the US weekend. This guy is a crook. There are some good people on kinopoisk.ru who are way better than him. Like our own almost famous, often seen here. Just post his predictions if you need an expert. Don't disgrace your site.
