Knight & Day - Exceeded Y2 billion (about $25 million) after 5 weeks. Umizaru 3 - Exceeded Y7.6 billion (about $94 million) after 8 weeks. Nothing for The Expendables? I think it's ranked #9 for this weekend. Should be a fairly good gross.

Just wait until Wednesday/Thursday each week - that's when the actuals will be posted. No point in asking every day.

I think it's ranked #9 for this weekend. Should be a fairly good gross. 9th in admissions, but 10th in gross. Full actuals, including totals, are released on Tuesday but it's very late/early morning (when I'm sleeping) most of the time, so by the time I update everything Variety and such have also updated for the weekend. However, I do see cinematoday.jp has released their weekend article, so numbers are out now. And since you REALLY want that Expendables number, here it is while I type up the Weekend Summary. 9位の『エクスペンダブルズ』が2ランクダウンだが、累計動員が65万9,089人、興収8億772万8,400円という結果 The Expendables - Y807,728,400 ($10.01 million) with 659,089 admissions after 4 weeks.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Umizaru 3 clears 90 million USD
Weekend Summary, Nov. 6-7, 2010

1. SP: The Motion Picture Toho $3,933,604 2 394 $9,984 -38% $19,021,753 2. Despicable Me Toho Towa $1,773,509 2 227 $7,813 -37% $7,805,234 3. Heart Catch Pretty Cure! Fashion And Adventure In Paris! TOEI $1,440,623 2 163 $8,838 -40% $6,012,845 4. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Kadokawa Pictures $1,177,205 1 264 $4,459 0 $1,177,205 5. Umizaru: The Last Message Toho $973,962 8 342 $2,848 -44% $94,737,716 6. The Incite Mill: 7-Day Death Game Warner Bros. Int'l $830,944 4 278 $2,989 -36% $12,680,366 7. Knight & Day Fox Int'l $768,934 5 448 $1,716 -43% $26,106,764 8. The Lady Shogun and Her Men Asmik Ace $496,086 6 308 $1,611 -39% $26,798,896 9. Saw 3D Asmik Ace $446,477 2 105 $4,256 -46% $2,325,375 10. Expendables, The Shochiku $442,516 4 279 $1,586 -47% $10,017,267Security Police has tripled it's opening weekend after just 9 days in release, grossing almost $20 million. $40 million appears locked up, with $45-50 million looking quite doable right now. Despicable Me is becoming one of those rare Hollywood CGI films that does solid numbers. Low, maybe mid-teens will be quite the success. Heart Catch Pretty Cure holds much better than expected it's second weekend. It'll finish with about $11 million like it's predecessor. Eclipse opens higher than both Twilight and New Moon (though Eclipse received a wider release), and should outgross both of them with a total of around $5 million. Umizaru 3 lost it's first screens after 8 weeks in release, resulting in a fairly big drop this weekend. Not that it's slowing down yet, with almost $3 million for the whole week, and close to $95 million grossed. $100 million is very much still on track. I'm predicting $103 million. The Incite Mill continues it's good run, and may reach $15 million before it's finished. The film's star, Tatsuya Fujiwara, can be seen again in two weeks as main character Nanahara in the re-release of Battle Royale (3D) that kicked off his very successful career 10 years ago. Knight & Day, too, is continuing to do quite well with $26 million after 5 weeks. There is still a slim chance of it reaching $30 million (though $28/29 million is more likely). The Lady Shogun and Her Men has been in the Top 10 for 6 weeks now. $30 million is also still possible here, but it may barely miss the mark. I haven't checked what previous Saw films grossed, but I'm confident in saying Saw 3D will easily become the biggest film in the franchise by a wide margin. About a $3.5 million total here. And finally, The Expendables has remained in the Top 10 for 4 weeks crossing $10 million. The opening was less than stellar, but legs were solid enough to save it from being much of a disappointment. It should squeak past $11 million.

Leaving the chart was Oceans which lasted for 10 months. -Resident Evil 4 is more than likely in it's final week of release, barely grossing anything this weekend, so it's numbers above are going to be final next week. There won't really be any major changes (only minor changes at the bottom of the charts with Knight & Day and Lady Shogun) on the charts for the rest of the year (December begins the 2011 Box Office Year). Only Security Police which will be zooming up the charts very soon, making a run for the Top 10, and of course Harry Potter opening on the 19th though it could end up missing the Top 5 of 2010 in USD and Yen. So, positions and numbers are nearing their final totals, with the current releases on the charts having been in release for quite some time now.

Is there a way to find out how much The Expendables makes after it dips below #10 on the list?

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Summary
The market survey firm Oricon reports that the 60th volume of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece pirate manga sold 2,094,123 copies between its first official day of sales (November 4) and November 7. It is the first book to sell over 2 million copies in its first week of sales since Oricon began reporting its book ranking charts in April of 2008. This volume topped the previous first-week sales record held by the 59th volume, which sold 1,852,541 copies in August.

The 60th volume already holds a record for having 3.4 million copies published in its first print run. The series overall now has 200 million copies in print. The official fan book One Piece Green -Secret Pieces- also went on sale on November 4 and sold 452,662 copies to rank #3 on the comic sales chart.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Summary
A top 50 wouldn't be much trouble, but a top 100 would probably be tricky.
I'm not home right now, but I will make the list soon.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Rankings
Here you go. All figures as of 11/8.
Films 47-50 are guesses (except for The Expendables, which has grossed Y0.8 as of last weekend), and only films at or above Y1.0 are included in official charts, though the others finished around Y0.7-0.8.
And there is also the chance of a couple films may have remained in theaters for months without being tracked that could appear on the charts later on. But for now, the list is couldn't get much more accurate.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Summary
Ok thankyou. So it looks like The Expendables is pretty disappointing in Japan then. Oh well.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Summary
A slight disappointment perhaps, but if it can remain in theaters it can hit Y1.0 which would be considered a success.
And this weekend is looking to be much stronger than last weekend judging by early reports.

Re: Japan Box Office (2010); Weekend Summary
Quick note: The exchange rate has shifted greatly over the past week. So much, that totals for some films in USD are likely to DECREASE from last week's totals. Bad timing for Harry Potter, and may end up preventing some milestones in USD from being reached (Umizaru 3 hitting $100 million for example). Anyway, Weekend Rankings Nov. 13-14, 2010

1 1 SP: The Motion Picture (Toho) 3 2 N Ghost: I Want To Hold You Again (Paramount/Shochiku) 1 3 2 Despicable Me (Toho-Towa) 3 4 3 Heart Catch Pretty Cure: Fashion and Adventures in Paris!? (TOEI) 3 5 4 The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Kadokawa Pictures) 2 6 6 Umizaru 3: The Last Message (Toho) 9 7 7 The Incite Mill: 7-Day Death Game (Warner Bros.) 5 8 8 Knight & Day (Fox) 6 9 N Atashin'chi 3D The Movie (TOEI) 1 10 9 The Lady Shogun and Her Men (Asmik Ace) 7SP: The Motion Pictures crossed 1.7 million admissions, for about Y2.1 billion ($25.5 million) after three weeks in release. The remake of Ghost opens to 104,239 admissions, Y126,771,600 ($1.5 million) on 305 screens. Atashin'chi 3D The Movie surprises and makes the top 10 on just 89 screens, 24,853 admissions for Y22,126,300 ($275,000). Eclipse only dropped 10% in admissions compared to last week's opening. WOM and reviews are considerably better this time.

With the exchange rate changing so much this past week, every film that is currently in release will see their USD totals decreasing from last week if one is to directly convert the overall total of a film's gross. (which I'd hate to do, I'd much rather add on the converted weekly gross to last week's totals). So I'm going to hold off updating the USD totals (days in release have been updated however) until I see how it's handled. An important note: Bayside Shakedown 3 looks to have finished it's run, with Toho announcing a total of Y7.3 billion for the film.
