Nothing for The Expendables?

I think it's ranked #9 for this weekend. Should be a fairly good gross.

Just wait until Wednesday/Thursday each week - that's when the actuals will be posted. No point in asking every day.

I CAN'T WAIT!

9th in admissions, but 10th in gross.

Full actuals, including totals, are released on Tuesday but it's very late/early morning (when I'm sleeping) most of the time, so by the time I update everything Variety and such have also updated for the weekend.

However, I do see cinematoday.jp has released their weekend article, so numbers are out now. And since you REALLY want that Expendables number, here it is while I type up the Weekend Summary.

Security Police has tripled it's opening weekend after just 9 days in release, grossing almost $20 million. $40 million appears locked up, with $45-50 million looking quite doable right now.

Despicable Me is becoming one of those rare Hollywood CGI films that does solid numbers. Low, maybe mid-teens will be quite the success.

Heart Catch Pretty Cure holds much better than expected it's second weekend. It'll finish with about $11 million like it's predecessor.

Eclipse opens higher than both Twilight and New Moon (though Eclipse received a wider release), and should outgross both of them with a total of around $5 million.

Umizaru 3 lost it's first screens after 8 weeks in release, resulting in a fairly big drop this weekend. Not that it's slowing down yet, with almost $3 million for the whole week, and close to $95 million grossed. $100 million is very much still on track. I'm predicting $103 million.

The Incite Mill continues it's good run, and may reach $15 million before it's finished. The film's star, Tatsuya Fujiwara, can be seen again in two weeks as main character Nanahara in the re-release of Battle Royale (3D) that kicked off his very successful career 10 years ago.

Knight & Day, too, is continuing to do quite well with $26 million after 5 weeks. There is still a slim chance of it reaching $30 million (though $28/29 million is more likely).

The Lady Shogun and Her Men has been in the Top 10 for 6 weeks now. $30 million is also still possible here, but it may barely miss the mark.

I haven't checked what previous Saw films grossed, but I'm confident in saying Saw 3D will easily become the biggest film in the franchise by a wide margin. About a $3.5 million total here.

And finally, The Expendables has remained in the Top 10 for 4 weeks crossing $10 million. The opening was less than stellar, but legs were solid enough to save it from being much of a disappointment. It should squeak past $11 million.

Notes:

-Knight & Day debuts at No.20 after 5 weeks on the Top 20 Films of 2010 by Gross (USD). Leaving the chart was Oceans which lasted for 10 months.
-Resident Evil 4 is more than likely in it's final week of release, barely grossing anything this weekend, so it's numbers above are going to be final next week.

There won't really be any major changes (only minor changes at the bottom of the charts with Knight & Day and Lady Shogun) on the charts for the rest of the year (December begins the 2011 Box Office Year).

Only Security Police which will be zooming up the charts very soon, making a run for the Top 10, and of course Harry Potter opening on the 19th though it could end up missing the Top 5 of 2010 in USD and Yen.

So, positions and numbers are nearing their final totals, with the current releases on the charts having been in release for quite some time now.

Ok thankyou. So it looks like The Expendables is pretty disappointing in Japan then. Oh well.

A slight disappointment perhaps, but if it can remain in theaters it can hit Y1.0 which would be considered a success.

And this weekend is looking to be much stronger than last weekend judging by early reports.

SP: The Motion Pictures crossed 1.7 million admissions, for about Y2.1 billion ($25.5 million) after three weeks in release.

The remake of Ghost opens to 104,239 admissions, Y126,771,600 ($1.5 million) on 305 screens.

Atashin'chi 3D The Movie surprises and makes the top 10 on just 89 screens, 24,853 admissions for Y22,126,300 ($275,000).

Eclipse only dropped 10% in admissions compared to last week's opening. WOM and reviews are considerably better this time.

Only the charts in Yen and Admissions have been fully updated with estimates. With the exchange rate changing so much this past week, every film that is currently in release will see their USD totals decreasing from last week if one is to directly convert the overall total of a film's gross. (which I'd hate to do, I'd much rather add on the converted weekly gross to last week's totals).

So I'm going to hold off updating the USD totals (days in release have been updated however) until I see how it's handled.

An important note: Bayside Shakedown 3 looks to have finished it's run, with Toho announcing a total of Y7.3 billion for the film.
