Titanic Earnings Update It may be ten years since the movie was released, but Fox continues to receive corrections and updates to the international box office reports for Titanic, which is, as every Numbers reader knows, the highest-grossing movie of all time. We just received the latest numbers...
Titanic's international box office now stands at $1,248,025,607, up about $3 million from previous reports. Its US gross remains unchanged at $600,788,188, giving it a worldwide total of $1,848,813,795. We're currently reviewing the country-by-country breakdown, and we will issue an update soon.
Is this the final, final gross? Well, we're not sure, but it's not clear if we have final figures from Vietnam yet, which released the movie in 2003. Whether those numbers will be enough to push it over the magical $1.85 billion mark remains to be seen. Update (1/24/2010): Careful review of the international numbers for Titanic reveals that the final international gross was $1,242,091,767. The discrepancy ($5,933,840) depends on the accounting for Puerto Rico grosses, which were included in both the US and international figures in the original report.http://www.the-numbers.com/interactive/ ... ewsID=3456

It was at €9.9 million going into the weekend, and only needs €10.5 million to replace Dead Man's Chest as the #10. Right now I'd say it should have enough steam left for a place in the top 5.

Easily could have had a billion dollar film there, but I doubt the producers are complaining. Domestic grosses compared to international grosses for this movie is quite lauhable really.

BALLS Well you should know that based on past experience, it's always understimated so regardless. Titanic is gone give or take 1 day. KNew it was going to gross more than $100m.

12 years on, why has it taken them this long to upgrade Titanic's gross? Unless it had special showings in some countries we don't know about recently. A number of countries , like Australia have a lot repatory screenings, not that it would account for 3mil, but basically every year a lot of old films have additional boxoffice or for really old films just film rental increases (years ago rentals was all theat was properly tracked bor was an estimate from rental), so for example Titanic earned money last year in Aus (total cume has increased slightly) a long with a stack of others.

The reason (or one of them) seems to be Puerto Rico. The discrepancy ($5,933,840) depends on the accounting for Puerto Rico grosses, which were included in both the US and international figures in the original report.http://www.the-numbers.com/interactive/ ... ewsID=3456

Avatar increased again this weekend in the Netherlands, up 4.5% for a €1,184,215 weekend and €11,071,689 total. It jumped from #15 to #10 of all time, and will surpass HP6 as 2009's biggest film soon. 1 TITANIC € 23.572.868,00 2 LORD OF THE RINGS:RETURN OF THE KING € 16.406.000,00 3 HARRY POTTER A/T SORCERER'S STONE € 15.357.977,00 4 LORD OF THE RINGS:FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING € 14.373.610,00 5 DANCES WITH WOLVES € 14.119.111,00 6 HARRY POTTER A/T CHAMBER OF SECRETS € 13.613.274,00 7 LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS € 13.586.729,00 8 LION KING, THE € 13.350.497,00 9 HARRY POTTER A/T HALF BLOOD PRINCE € 11.340.136,00 10 AVATAR € 11.071.689,0011 PIRATES O/T CARIBBEAN:DEAD MAN'S CHEST € 10.525.314,00 12 JURASSIC PARK € 10.133.712,00 13 PIRATES O/T CARIBBEAN:AT WORLD'S END € 10.111.301,00 14 HARRY POTTER A/T ORDER O/T PHOENIX € 10.102.345,00 15 HARRY POTTER A/T GOBLET OF FIRE € 10.086.939,00 Titanic is safe, but right now I'm pretty sure it's going to have the longevity to reach #2 here. After a far from amazing start I didn't have high hopes for its chances at an all-time top 10 spot, but so far it's been showing some amazing legs over here as well. It only decreased (slightly) over the weekend twice so far, and increased three times. Last week's weekdays were also up 46% over the week before.

With that sort of weekend gross and drops percentage, there's no way it's not beating ROTK. Sad really, it's taking down ROTK in almost every market now, even in middle and northern europe.

Total US Gross $600,788,188 International Gross $1,248,025,607 Worldwide Gross $1,848,813,795
Well i haven't seen any advertisied showings for Titanic last year. Perhaps this is for non-Melbourne cities?
